Hellenic American Union:
The Hellenic American Union in Thessaloniki & Athens, Greece, is a public-service institution with an international focus and strong community commitment, dedicated to providing opportunities for a diverse range of audiences to encounter and benefit from innovative educational programs and cultural events. The Modern Greek Language Program has been offering courses in Modern Greek to foreign students in Athens since 1957. Since then, every year, more than 800 students from approximately 75 countries join the Program. Among other services, the Program also offers methodology courses for teachers.

Modern Greek Beginners
You learn to read, write, speak, and understand the language in order to perform basic communicative tasks.
Modern Greek Intermediate 1
You cover basic grammatical structures needed to describe past and future events both orally and in writing, as well as to understand discussions and news summaries.
Modern Greek Intermediate 2
You become able to engage in extended conversations with native speakers on non-specialized topics, understand a descriptive documentary or an extended news selected newspaper and magazine articles in their entirety, as well as carefully chosen literary texts.
Modern Greek Intermediate 3
You learn how to discuss topics of cultural and professional interest, follow interviews and discussions and develop in writing by practicing on more extensive prose such as narrative and argumentative essays.
Modern Greek Advanced 1
You learn how to understand a wide range of demanding texts and recognize implicit meaning. Also, you become able to use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes and produce well-structured text on complex subjects.
Modern Greek Advanced 2
You become able to understand with ease virtually everything heard or read, and express yourself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, even in more complex situations.
Modern Greek Advanced 3
You become able to comprehend complex discourses such as academic lectures, articles and interviews, and engage in extended discussion on a wide range of professional and specialized topics.
Modern Greek Conversation courses:
Intermediate Conversation
You learn how to talk about journeys and personality types, experiences, and different types of issues.
Advanced Conversation
You learn how to express your ideas orally, defend opinions, and argue on current topics. You also take part in debates and discussions, in pairs or groups.
Exam Preparation Courses - Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek:
These courses prepare you for the Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek from the Hellenic Ministry of Education and the Centre for the Greek Language. You improve your skills in reading and listening, and in test-taking strategies. They are offered once a week, during the February-May term.

You become familiar with all types of test tasks found in the Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek, A1 Level, from the Hellenic Ministry of Education and the Centre for the Greek Language.

The Hellenic Culture Centre situated in Athens is a language institution aiming to promote Greek language and culture within the framework of a multicultural society. Since 1995 the Centre has specialized in organizing Greek language courses for non native speakers as well as cultural and educational programmes.The Centre΄s work has been planned on the reality of modern multicultural life, taking into consideration both the value of communication amongst cultures as well as the educational, professional and social needs of citizens.
Situated in the Nea Ionia area of northern Athens, Alexandria Institute provides Greek language courses for students who want to make rapid progress in Greek language and deepen their knowledge of Greece and its culture. We offer intensive language courses for beginner, intermediate and advanced level. Each course is 40 hours, divided into 10 days and includes grammar, reading, speaking, and writing. It also provides an insight into Greek culture and civilization.
Special courses of Modern Greek Literature and Culture and of Ancient Greek are offered on request. Our Greek teachers are qualified, specialized and experienced in teaching Greek as a foreign language.
Moreover, the courses are combined with lectures, outdoor activities and various tours helping students become more familiar with contemporary Greek culture.
