Fun Mousetrap Construction Game - Tom's Trap-O-Matic

Rating: 7.6/10 - 2957 votes

Construct a crazy mouse-trap contraption, and help Tom catch Jerry for once and for all in Tom's Trap-O-Matic, a challenging and interactive online puzzle game for kids and teens where you have to use a combination of wacky devices in order to set a trap that snares Jerry - the legendary cartoon mouse. Tom the Cat has been hunting the cheeky and elusive Jerry for donkey's years, and has finally amassed an arsenal of whimsical and random gadgets that can be used to create a unique contraption and chain reaction of events that finally brings a cage down around poor little Jerry. You play the role of ‘trap manager’, and have to design and set up a step-by-step process using small machines, tiny toys, and moving parts that once activated in sequence will all combine to form a mechanical chain reaction. If you can figure out a solution that combines the correct combination of various gadgets, you can create the most intricate and epic mouse trap of all time!

Based on the iconic cat-and-mouse cartoon series Tom and Jerry, this surprisingly tricky brain teaser game is a real test of your creative engineering know-how, analytical thinking ability, observation skills, and sheer problem-solving determination. Even experienced online puzzle aficionados may find the task of putting together a working mouse trap quite difficult. Trial and error combined with great patience is the order of the day as you have to constantly chop and change your mechanical mouse trap arrangement in order to avoid furniture, speed up the process, or change the direction of the reaction of the various parts in your unique construction. Ok trap-maker, let’s see your cunning plan and master design in motion!

How to Play: To better visually understand how the game works, watch the introductory animation / tutorial. There are two ‘areas’ of the house where you can attempt your grand plan for catching Jerry – the Kitchen, or the Living Room (by lowering a cage over him). To do this, you have to set up a "mechanical chain reaction" trap consisting of many small, moving devices – beginning with the snapping mousetrap that initiates the sequence of events when it "springs" in the corner of the room. Using a ‘blueprint’ style background, you have to add devices that go from the initial mousetrap – all the way across the room – to the cage that hovers above an unaware Jerry. Ultimately, you have to figure out a way to cut the supporting rope, and drop the cage on top of the unexpectant little mouse.

Clicking on the ‘Device Library’ button at the bottom of the game screen opens a catalog of different devices (parts) in the categories of ‘Launchers’, ‘Hangers’, ‘Rollers’, and ‘Cutters’. Next, click on the device of your choice, and add it to the blueprint of your trap by dragging it onto the game grid. Once a device is added to the blueprint, you can rotate it by clicking on the ‘turn’ arrow that appears next to that device. Keep adding further devices until you think your trap is ready for testing. Click on the ‘Test Trap’ button in order to see your trap in action. It is extremely difficult to create a perfectly designed trap on the first attempt, so carefully study where the action sequence goes wrong during the test, and add / remove new gadgets as you see fit. You have an unlimited number of tries, so keep going until you catch Jerry! Happy problem solving!
