Rating: 7.1/10 - 337 votes

Play online chess on mobile phone, tablet, notebook, laptop or desktop PC - against six different levels of computer opponent, or take on a friend or family member in this elegant and simple chess simulation game. Chess Classic is an easy-to-play, 1 or 2-player, virtual chess game where you can immerse yourself in the ‘game of kings’, test out your preferred openings and move combinations, and try to improve your general chess play with intense matches against computer rivals, or against real-life opponents playing on the same computer, phone, or tablet.

Reasons to play Chess Classic: There are no gimmicks or fancy distractions here – This is straight up, old school chess on a classic-style board with normal rules. Whether you are a basic beginner or a more experienced Chess player, you can pit your wits against suitable chess ‘engines’ in 1-player mode. Alternatively, the interactive 2-player mode allows you to take on your best friends and family members in fierce contests for bragging rights!

How to Play: This chess simulation and strategy game should work on iOS and Android devices, as well as web browsers for PC / Mac. When the game loads, click or tap on the 1 or 2-player icon to select your game mode. Next, on the game setup screen, you can toggle through computer difficulty levels (1-6), and control whether you begin as White, Black, or random choice.

When the game begins, simply click or tap on the piece you want to move, and then click or tap on the square you wish to move it to. When you select a piece, all legal moves are highlighted with green dots. Click or tap on the settings icon in the bottom right corner of the in-game play area to change the style and color of the chessboard, or to choose a new piece style.

Opening Tip for playing with White: On computer levels 1 and 2, the Queen's Gambit (1. d4 d5 2. c4…) seems to work nicely. Your opponent almost always accepts the Gambit, leaving you plenty of opportunity for controlling the center and naturally developing your pieces.

Opening Tip for playing with Black: The computer has a tendency to send out its Knights before bringing out its center pawns. Exploit this strategy by bringing your d and e pawns into play as early as you can. Controlling the center is vital when playing with the black pieces.

Note: Advertisements may pop up on your game screen from time to time. To continue with the game, click or tap on the ‘Skip Ad’ button near the bottom right corner of game screen.
