Good Online Puzzle Game for Older Kids - Chronotron
Chronotron is a head-scratching, brain teaser puzzle platform game for older kids and teens set in a world where time travel is an essential everyday skill that you have to master! You play the role of Chronotron, the red and white little time-traveling robot who needs to navigate his way through a series of challenging platform levels. To do this Chronotron must enlist the help of and interact with identical, teleported versions of himself from the immediate past. Use the Time Pod machine (an elevator) to replicate multiple versions of yourself in order to complete various tasks such as opening doors, flipping switches, lifting boxes, and other actions that would be impossible for Chronotron to do alone as one entity.
This innovative and challenging online activity really tests your analytical thinking and problem-solving skills as you try to figure out a solution that allows all versions of the likeable little robot to successfully work together in order to complete each level. Great patience and determination is needed in order to find the solution. Try not to get your brain in a twist – Time travel can be mind-meltingly tricky at times! Ok Chronotron – let's call on past experience to solve future problems!
How to Play: In each of the 35 increasingly difficult levels, your goal is to collect the essential Circuit Board (the green computer chip-like object) that is needed to help repair damage to your Time Pod, and then return to your Time Pod machine (the blue elevator). The Circuit Board is always in a difficult-to-reach place, so you need to open doors, jump on springs, flip switches, and position crates using teleported duplicated versions of Chronotron from the immediate past.
Use the Arrow Keys on your computer keyboard to control Chronotron (alternatively you can use the WASD Keys). Note that you can only control the original version of your robot; the teleported versions just replicate (mimic) the movements that Chronotron has already made on that level. To create a duplicate robot, stand next to the Time Pod, and press Spacebar. A second "clone-like" robot emerges, and performs the exact same actions that your original Chronotron has just made from the beginning of that level.
For example, if you need a door to be opened for long enough to reach a circuit board, you first jump on the door switch with the original robot. Then, after you have gone back to your the time machine to create a duplicate – the new robot will do and jump on the switch, and leave original Chronotron free to nip through the door, and grab the Circuit Board. Once you have collected the Circuit Board, get back to the Time Pod and hit Spacebar to progress to the next level. In later levels, you may need to create more than two versions of Chronotron to perform multiple tasks. Black and yellow crates can be picked up and dropped by pressing Spacebar beside them. If you get stuck, press the T Key to restart the level (or click the ‘Restart’ button in the bottom left corner of the game screen). To Rewind to the entry time of the last teleported version, use the R Key on your keyboard.
