Globe English Centre:
Globe English Centre is situated in the beautiful South-West of England, in the centre of Exeter, the capital city of Devon. With its warm climate and endless activities and calm, the Globe and Exeter are the perfect places to study and improve ones English.

Most students like to live with an English family for companionship and conversation. The Director, Catherine Borgen, personally visits and selects the families, because we know what an important part they play in the success of your stay. Our families enjoy sharing their lives and interests with their foreign guests.
Our families abide by ARELS Code of Practice in accordance with the British Council and British Tourist Authority recommendations. Your family will be chosen according to the requirements specified on your enrolment form. Adult students have their own room. Junior students usually share with a student of a different nationality. All students are offered breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal. Families are within a maximum walking distance of 25 minutes and always on a bus route.
Also we offer hotel accommodation, self-catering apartments, private residences.

For Juniors & Adults from Discovery to Business and General English to English with Golf, group courses and work experience possibilities.

The Globe's beautifully modernised 19th century buildings offer excellent facilities and are surrounded by trees and gardens with lovely views over the Exe valley.

Classrooms
Classrooms are equipped with comfortable chairs and tables, whiteboard, tape recorder, television and portable overhead projector.

Video and DVD
Many of our classrooms are equipped with video players used for lessons and self-study.

Self-access centre in Adult School
Open from 09.00 - 17.00 ; 3 rooms with listening centre, computers and television ; Free e-mail and Internet access ; Printing and photocopying facilities ; Self study materials including the latest computer software, grammar and vocabulary books, listening cassettes, library of readers and videos.
Our Self Access tutor is on hand to help you every afternoon.
Junior students have their own library and access to e-mail and Internet everyday from 11 - 11.30.

Common rooms and Kitchens
Both schools have a small kitchen. Adult students are offered free tea and coffee during the breaks and are welcome to make use of our kitchen facilities for their lunches and dinner parties.

Family Services
The Globe Junior School is next door to our Adult School and open all the year round for young people aged 7-19.

In School : cooking sessions, quizzes, board games, billiards, table tennis competitions, parties and barbecues, etc.
Going out : to theatres, cinemas, traditional pubs, concerts, newspapers, radio stations, the Courts, local businesses, breweries, historic monuments, deep-sea fishing, pony trekking, ballooning, on literary trails (Agatha Christie, Charles Dickens), etc.
Enthusiasts will find most sports available in Exeter with many excellent leisure and fitness centres, parks and playing fields offering tennis, golf, cycling, horse riding, squash and more. The River Exe also provides opportunities for a variety of water sports, canoeing, sailing and windsurfing.

The Globe owns 5 self-catering apartments ideally situated on the School campus in the heart of the city and less than a 2-minute walk from your classroom.. They are suitable for Adult students , group leaders and families who would like privacy and independence during their stay. All are comfortably modernised and pleasantly furnished, and come with bed linen and towels as well as all modern conveniences, including ADSL internet, Wi-fi, TV /DVD , a fully equipped kitchen, central heating and more. Some town houses are also available in the summer.

The Globe has dedicated shared self - catering apartments which come fully equipped with everything you will need during your stay with us. They are ideally situated on campus, in the heart of the C ity and less than a 2-minute walk from your classroom. The apartments are comfortable and pleasantly decorated. 3 or 4 students share each apartment where you can have a private room or a shared room. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom, central heating, TV/DVD and Fast Internet access ADSL in each apartment . All towels and bed linen will be provided for. These apartments are perfect for very sociable students who are interested in living with other students, learning more about their cultures and who would like to be more independent during their stay.
