Curatorial Studies Summer Program in Europe
School for Curatorial Studies, Venice:
Founded in 2004, The School for Curatorial Studies provides an intensive summer program on the history of contemporary visual arts and practices of exhibition-making. The course takes place in the heart of Venice, with English-taught lectures cover both theoretical and practical topics. The students participate in weekly activities, such as artist studio visits, tours of exhibition spaces, networking events and workshops. The program culminates with the set up of the exhibition and the publication of a printed catalogue.

Summer Course in Curatorial Studies:

The participants will develop themes as well as concepts, organization, acquisition, communication and the concrete implementation of their skills together with the course director and international guests (artists, curators, architects, critics, fine arts scientists and publishers of art journals). Messors Workshops - Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration in Italy

Messors Workshops offers 15-day summer Art Conservation Workshops on Fresco and Canvas, based in the rich cultural and historical setting of Altamura, Gravina in Puglia and Matera, in Southern Italy. We are 27 miles southwest of Bari (airport BRI).The Frescoes are part of the rupestrian settlements (underground habitations) located in the Alta Murgia area in the Puglia region of Italy. Private collections provide canvases.
Under tutelage of program director Tonio Creanza participants are introduced to principles and methodology for the conservation of frescoes and paintings on canvas, experiencing the process of restoration as it unfolds.
Participants will also review the completed and restored works of past projects: 17th-century wood statues, decorative paintings and stone reliefs, exterior and interior frescoes, and paintings in both private collections.

Summer School for Fine Arts & Media, Venice

The International Summer Academy for Fine Arts and Media in Venice is a combination of academic studies and an open academy. The courses are offered for students of universities as well as for applicants without training in art.In this way, it combines advanced level with open accessibility. Courses take place parallel to the Venice Biennales, which also influence the program. The uniqueness of the summer academy in Venice is the concept of small, specialized classes with the possibility to combine them. All courses include a training module for beginners providing techniques and skills with most recent didactic methods.
The fact that the art studios, the accommodation and the meals are all located in the same building or nearby, contributes to a unique working environment at the Summer Academy.
Courses can be booked by weeks as well, but a far better profit is experienced when at least two or three weeks in continuity gives you the chance to apply and practice what you have learned. This is the best way to fully enjoy your art work. At the end of every week a curated show summarizes the work of all art-classes.
