FSHA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA), and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA).
Residential Life:
- Our boarding halls are made up of 23 rooms, where two girls usually share each room. In order to foster interaction among students from different cultures, the director of boarding students makes a consistent effort to assign students from different countries as roommates.
- Every room is equipped with a phone line with private voicemail for each student, Internet hook-up, bed, chest of drawers and desk for each student, flourescent lighting, walk-in closet, private bathroom with shower and tub, locker for valuables, fans and heaters. All rooms are cleaned once a week by a cleaning service.
Extra-curricular Activities:
Weekend life in the boarding hall is bustling. FSHA is close to Pasadena, which boasts many excellent retail stores, restaurants and movie theaters, as well as museums and cultural landmarks.
The boarding program has special monthly activities, ranging from visiting local ski resorts, enjoying some of Southern California’s finest beaches, shopping at the outlets in the desert city of Palm Springs, or having fun at a nearby amusement park, such as Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott’s Berry Farm or Magic Mountain.

Oak Grove School is a progressive, co-educational day and boarding school offering a 7-day boarding program to both American and international high school students in 7th through to 12th grade. Based in Ojai City, Ventura County, southern California, we are situated approximately 54 miles (86 km) north of Los Angeles. Our graduates are accepted at top colleges and universities worldwide, and our SAT scores surpass national averages among both public and private high schools.
Our family-style boarding facility provides a warm and friendly home for 15 - 20 boarding students. Our dedicated residential staff lives on the premises offering support and guidance.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18. We welcome students from California, across the United States, & students from around the world (TWAI is authorized to issue 1-20's for international students).
In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).
TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.
We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.
With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.
We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.
Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.
