Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from Oklahoma and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We also provide a GED program, and college courses.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

Founded in 1930, FVS provides a co-ed, boarding and day school environment for students in grades 9-12 from across the United States and the world. The School has an 1,100 acre main campus in Colorado Springs and a 40-acre Mountain Campus near Buena Vista, Colo.

Spring Ridge Academy is an all-girls therapeutic boarding school serving students ages 13 - 17 in grades 9-12 in Spring Valley AZ (18 miles southeast of Prescott). Spring Ridge combines an empowering emotional growth program with a sophisticated therapeutic approach and a rigorous college prep curriculum with AP courses and SAT prep.

Our therapeutic milieu is designed to address each student’s issues, challenges and strengths and to assist the family in making changes that support them.

Our curriculum is designed to both assist students who have struggled or fallen behind and to challenge and prepare even the most dedicated student for future academic endeavors. In addition to treatment team meetings, the entire faculty meets every week to review the academic and social progress of each student.

In Balance Ranch Academy

In Balance Ranch Academy is a therapeutic boarding school for troubled boys aged 13-17, in beautiful southern Arizona, less than one hour from Tucson. It was developed around a clinically sophisticated model that effectively blends traditional therapy and the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Additionally, the program incorporates research-based relapse prevention techniques, equine therapy and other experiential treatment modalities. In Balance Ranch serves young men who are suffering from substance abuse and other co-occurring disorders.

Our academic courses are fully accredited; students may choose to earn a high school diploma while they are with us, or transfer their earned credits to another school to complete their educational program.

Our experiential learning and one-to-one tutoring model ensures success for many students who have struggled in more traditional school settings.
