French Courses in Tours, France

CLE French Language School:
CLE is situated in the Loire Valley in the heart of the lively old town section of Tours (in central France, approximately 150 km south-west of Paris). Founded in 1985, CLE is an independent institute for French studies. Not only being a member of the Groupement FLE (French as a foreign language), it is also the first professional organisation in France to have established a code of conduct (1999). Our courses are taught by qualified teachers, specialising in the teaching of French to foreigners. Their competence and enthusiasm will make learning a pleasure. You have one teacher in the morning and another teacher in the afternoon. The two will guide you towards your objectives.

“A la carte” courses
You can choose the number of weeks of the course according to your needs. You can start your course any Monday:
• Except if you have never studied French or your French is at a very basic level (below level A1.1). We have specific dates for beginners. If you have any doubts about your level in French, you can check your level by trying out our on-line tests.
• Except when the school is closed for two weeks at the end of the year.

Combined courses
If you wish, you can add individual classes to your ‘small group’ course. These are our ‘à la carte’ combined courses or our ‘combined summer courses’. This method is ideal if you only have, say, 4 weeks to devote to your French studies and wish to make the most of it. During your individual classes, you could, for example:
• improve your understanding of spoken French and your own spoken French,
• refine your basic grammar,
• concentrate on vocabulary for the situations in which you might find yourself at work and/or,
• prepare for an exam.

Standard courses
These courses are of 3 months duration in winter, spring, summer or autumn and are for those people who can make themselves available for several months.

Individual courses
For the maximum benefit in the shortest time, we would strongly recommend that you to take an individual course. These courses can very precisely meet your needs. They are the ideal solution for people who are going to need French for their work but who do not have time to study in their already busy lives.

Courses for couples
Why not take a course as a couple? This type of course has proved a big success with couples or friends of 5O years of age or more, who wish to learn serenely and for pleasure.

Courses for adolescents
If a couple has some adolescents who cannot follow a ‘small group’ course but want to study French, this course could be ideal because of their age.

DELF or DALF exams preparation
If you wish to test your knowledge of French by taking a diploma delivered by the Ministry of Education of France and recognised throughout the world, we would recommend the DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Lanque Française) or the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Lanque Française).
During your stay at CLE, you can involve yourself with one of these exams (DELF or DALF) and if the dates of the exams are not convenient, you can take the exams back in your own country. There are 900 exam centers spread through 154 countries.

TEF exam preparation
During your studies at CLE, you can take the TEF (Test d’évaluation du français). This examination by the Paris Chamber of Commerce is recognised by the French ministry of Education and by the Canadian Federal Government. It consists of 150 multiple choice questions to assess your listening and reading abilities as well as your vocabulary and grammar.
