University of Muenster and CBL International:
The world’s first global International Business Law LL.M. from the University of Muenster, organized in partnership with CBL International is being launched this year with program lectures taking place in Muenster, Germany (10 weeks), Shanghai, China (7 weeks) and New York City, USA (7 weeks). The LL.M. programme is open to all students who already have a degree in law, business, economics or political sciences. Our global degree program corresponds uniquely to today’s business world’s demands. Participants will have the opportunity to obtain knowledge essential for successful business transactions on an international level, as well as cross-border lawyering.
- The one-year International Business Law LL.M. program addresses graduates of law or business studies who want to specialize in the field of international business law.
- Two semesters including four months for the master thesis.
- 9 Modules with a total of 640 lessons (at 45 minutes each), compulsory attendance 90% of the lectures.
- 24 weeks of lectures (Monday – Thursday), 10 weeks in Muenster, 7 weeks in Shanghai, 7 weeks in New York City.
- 60 ECTS-Points (ECTS = European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System.
Scholarships:
We offer six partial grants, each covering 25% of the tuition fee, to applicants with excellent final grades, while three of the grants are awarded to applicants who hold a degree in law and three to applicants who graduated in business studies.
Besides insights on intercultural management and international co-operation, issues dealt with during the program include international corporate and investment law, commercial and competition law, tax law, insolvency law, labor law, finance or white collar and corporate crime. Each of these issues will be dealt with in a regional context that corresponds to the respective venue (Europe, China, USA).

Our panel of lecturers is comprised out of university professors who are all leading experts in their field and practitioners who work for nationally and internationally active law or consultancy firms, banks or auditing companies.
- Muenster, Germany:
In October 2004, Muenster received the LivCom Award in Canada officially confirming what the people of Muenster already knew: That theirs is one of the most liveable cities in the world! The first large city in Germany to receive this award, the Westphalian metropolis bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary in its own extraordinary way. - Shanghai, China:
Experience Shanghai, the up-and-coming financial hub of the East. See firsthand the rapid growth Shanghai has experienced even within the last decade, especially within Pudong New Area and Lujiazui Financial District. Watch as new skyscrapers are added to the already impressive skyline.
While in Shanghai, you will live and attend classes amidst the Asian regional headquarters of many Fortune 500 companies, as well as international and Chinese law firms. Witness the rich and fascinating history and culture of China. Cruise along the Huangpu River, taking in the architectural diversity of the old foreign offices along the Bund on one side, and the breathtaking futuristic Shanghai skyline on the other. Explore the many affordable markets all over town and sample delicious local cuisine. The picturesque water towns of Hangzhou and Suzhou are only a short train ride away making them ideal for weekend getaways.
- New York City, USA:
Spend a 7-week module in New York, a city of astounding diversity, size and prosperity. Live and study among the country’s largest concentration of government agencies, law firms, corporate headquarters, courts, banks, and exchange markets. Expose yourself to the incredible networking opportunities found in this city, home to the world’s elite business and legal minds.
The world’s melting pot, New York City is a blend of all the unique cultures and perspectives that make up the United States. Sample world cuisines, stroll in Central Park, and explore the majesty the Big Apple.
