Key Subjects from Kindergarten to 8th grade include math, English and language arts, life, physical, and earth science, social studies, technology, music, art and dram and physical education.

Our Academic program follows Diocese of Allentown curriculum guidelines and our instructional activities are enhanced by our commitment to the highest standards of student performance. Our commitment is demonstrated by the following curriculum and instruction activities.

Reading and Language Arts:

Science:

The science curriculum covers life, physical, and earth sciences. We cover topics including plants, matter, magnets, sound, the solar system, dinosaurs, and the weather.

Math:
Our mathematics program emphasizes skills, problem solving and conceptual understanding. Students in grades five and six receive seven periods of mathematics instruction each week so that they are better prepared for Algebra. Students take pre Algebra in seventh grade and Algebra 1 in eighth grade.

Spanish:
Students take three periods of Spanish each week in seventh and eighth grade. In these two years, students complete the equivalent of first year Spanish.


* We have a learning support team leader and learning support teachers to serve every grade level. Our goal is to provide the enrichment or learning support that every student requires to achieve our academic performance standards.
* We have two guidance counselors who work with the learning support team, teachers and parents.

Art:
Art classes are held once a week for kindergarten through eighth grade students. The art curriculum includes the creation of a wide variety of art, often integrated with grade level curricula in math, social studies, religion, and literature.

To varying degrees, all students examine famous works of art and explore their historical and cultural contexts. Junior high students also learn basic ceramic skills, including hand-building techniques, the potter’s wheel, and glazing and firing ceramics in the school’s kiln.

Music:

Music classes are scheduled once a week for grades kindergarten through eight. The curriculum is taught in compliance with the National Standards for Music Education and the guidelines set forth by the Music Educators’ National Conference.

Singing, dancing, listening, music appreciation along with history, rhythm activities, instrument playing, and theory are combined into a broad-based general music curriculum. Liturgical music is incorporated into the curriculum.
