Select English, Cambridge:
Select English runs a year round school in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, 80 km north east of London and caters for a wide range of clients. The Cambridge school runs courses for adults in general English and IELTS as well as tailor made courses designed to meet clients needs. During the summer there is a busy summer programme for children, teenagers and adults that delivers a fun activity based course combined with serious language study. We are accredited by the British Council. Select English's main office in Cambridge is 2 minutes from the train station and a 15 minute walk to the city centre. Select English has been licensed by the UK Border Agency to enrol international students under Tier 4 of the Points Based System. We also have a school in London catering for adults at all levels offering General English, IELTS and Cambridge exams. Whatever your needs are, we can provide you with a course that fits in with what you want to do and achieve during an English course in Britain.
General English 20 or 25 hours per week:
This course covers all the basic skills needed to communicate successfully in English as well as making sure students study grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The day is divided into lessons covering language input, project work and real English.
* Ages 16+ (Any under 16s at Select English will be in a closed group and taught in separate classes)
* 20 or 25 Hours of General English classes a week
In your time at Select English (September - June only) you will be studying one of the following courses:
E20:
This is a general English course of 4 x 1 hour lessons each day. You will have 2 teachers – one for lessons 1 & 2 and a different teacher for lessons 3& 4.
or
E25:
This is the same as the above PLUS an additional hour of skills based lessons. At higher levels this will take the form of specific IELTS exam preparation classes. At lower levels it will be more general with the aim of introducing you to the skills to face IELTS in the future.
IELTS:
This course includes 20 hours of General English plus an extra hour each day of dedicated IELTS study. Students will study the language and skills necessary to help them get a good score in the IELTS test.The cost of the IELTS exam in 2009 is £105 and this will be charged in addition to your school fees if you need to take the exam.
* All lessons last 60 minutes.
* Elementary to advanced.
* Maximum class size of 14 students.
* Students can begin their course on any Monday.
* On the first day there will be a short test to make sure that students will be in the right class.
* Coursebooks will be available to buy from a nearby bookshop or can be borrowed from the school. Students should provide their own writing materials such as pens, notebooks and folders.
