Skinner Creek ESL Summer Camp, Tatlayoko Lake:
Skinner Creek ESL Guest Ranch in British Columbia, north of Vancouver, offers 2 unique programs designed for international students, one for ages 7-12 and the other for students ages 13-18. Each student experiences outdoor adventures combined with an intensive English program. Skinner Creek ESL Summer Camp has a cozy atmosphere with a maximum capacity of 16, providing wonderful opportunities for interaction and attention to each student.
This is an intensive English/Outdoor adventure program that is sure to challenge. Students study English 15-20 hours per week and are challenged in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary building and conversational English.
Students are challenged in English classes with material suited for different age groups. After class, students enjoy many outdoor activities in a controlled, safe environment. Experienced supervisors and camp counselors will modify each activity to the level appropriate for each student.
Students’ safety is a priority for the staff of Skinner Creek ESL Guest Ranch. Students are monitored at all times and supervisors are in the cabins with the students at night. Staff members have St. John’s First Aid and Transportation and Wilderness First Aid. A medical clinic is nearby and accessible 24 hours. Students must have medical insurance.
English Classes:
- Class hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm with a one-hour break for lunch.
- Students are challenged in conversation and all academic English skills.
- Vocabulary specific to related outdoor activities in some classes.
- Fun after-class outdoor and evening activities
- Great after class activities on-site include: horseback riding lessons, hiking, baseball, volleyball, badminton, archery, trampoline, mountain biking, bonfires and much more.
- Time to watch videos and T.V. and play games.
- Experience Canadian family life
Weekends:
Special all-day and overnight weekend activities include: camping, days at the lake (fishing, swimming, boating), rodeos, cowboy church and more.

I learned a lot of English skills. I saw deer, coyotes, bears and squirrels in person. It was so much fun!!"
