The University of Michigan (U-M) College of Engineering in Ann Arbor (35 miles west of Detroit), in the Great Lakes Region of northeastern United States, is a global leader in engineering education and research - offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs to US and international students. Nearly all of U-M's 19 schools, colleges and divisions rank among the best in their fields, and Engineering is no exception. Our undergraduate programs are highly ranked and have a strong reputation for excellence. Michigan Engineering’s faculty are among the best in the U.S.

Applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects and working in multidisciplinary teams are vital components of the Michigan Engineering experience. Prospective students who have not yet attended any institution of higher education after high school graduation should apply for freshman admission.

Location:
Today, the College of Engineering is prominently located in the center of the University's North Campus (the Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory is located on Central Campus). Michigan Engineering has 23 buildings, including new state of the art facilities, and is home to a bounty of art that enhances the public spaces of the campus.
Ann Arbor is is an economic bright spot and home to over 100,000 and is located about 35 miles west of Detroit, in the Midwest region of the United States. The city is served by three freeways: I-94, which runs along the southern portion of the city; US 23, which primarily runs along the eastern edge of Ann Arbor; and M-14, which runs along the northern edge of the city. Ann Arbor Municipal Airport is located south of I-94. Detroit Metropolitan Airport, the area's large international airport, is 25 miles east of the city, in Romulus.
