Free Ski Jumping Game - Ski Jump DX

Even to a beginner, ski jumping is one of the most visually breathtaking and exciting winter sports in the world, and is one of the most popular Winter Olympic events on the roster. (Skiers travel down a take-off ramp, jump, and attempt to impress onlooking judges, who give points for style and distance.) There are few more spectacular sights than a graceful skier soaring bird-like through the air with their skis in the iconic V-shape. Here, it is your time to impress the judges in Ski Jump DX, a challenging online ski jumping game where you participate in a 2-jump competition, and are scored on distance and style. Set on a picturesque mountainside slope, you have to carefully set your skiing competitor in motion, execute a well-timed take off jump, and land safely to score well. Six computer-controlled opponents are vying with you for the top spot but just two world-class jumps will see you grab that prestigious and elusive Gold medal!

As with skiing in real life, this online flash version presents an extremely difficult test of your physical capabilities and mental skills. The timing of your ‘in-run’ (start-off), accuracy of your take off jump, balance in the air, and execution of the landing are all tremendously important. Your keyboard tapping skills are the key to success here, as is your ability to concentrate on ‘nailing’ your jumping technique from start to finish. The margins between gold, silver, bronze, and last place are absolutely minute – and even one tiny mistake can lead to an uncomfortable crash landing! How to Play: This online game currently does not work on IE11 but should work for you on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.

Once the game loads on your browser, click on the ‘Continue’ button at the bottom of the loading screen. This brings you to the main menu screen where you can type a name in the area where it says ‘Player Name’ (This is optional, and is the name that will be displayed on the Championship scoreboards). Click on the ‘Play’ button in order to go to the Tutorial screen. Here, the instructions for ski jumping are laid out in a step-by-step manner. We recommend that you click on the ‘Practice’ option in order to get used to the controls and intricacies of the jumping technique. Experienced players can click on the ‘Compete’ option and skip straight to the competitive action.

Once you are ready to jump, concentrate on the ‘Push Off Power’ bar in the top left corner of the game screen. Ideally, you want to stop this bar when the green lights reach the maximum level. Press the Up Arrow key on your computer keyboard in order to ‘push off’. Depending on the power of your initial ‘push off’, your skier takes off down the ramp at speed. Once your skier reaches the end of the ramp, press your Up Arrow again to take off into the air. While airborne, use the Left and Right Arrow keys in order to balance your skier and elongate your flight time. Finally, try to land safely on both skis!

Your score is based on the distance traveled (in meters), and the technique shown. In ‘Compete’ mode, you have 2 jumps to impress the judges. Your combined score after 2 jumps is compared with that of the other (unseen) computer skiers. While it is unlikely that you will win the gold on your first attempt, keep trying, and you should gradually improve your rank (To play again, go back and click on "Back to Main Menu". We highly recommend that you spend some time in ‘Practice’ mode in order to perfect your technique.
