Junior School:

Using the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate as our framework, we have an articulated curriculum based on the five essential PYP elements that direct the program: concepts, skills, knowledge, attitudes and action. Branksome Hall is proud of how our teachers and students integrate all aspects of the PYP in their approach to teaching and learning.
PYP pedagogy is embedded in best practices for teaching young children, following an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary and holistic approach to learning. Using six internationally set guiding themes, students learn globally relevant, challenging and significant concepts. The PYP provides a consistent and coherent framework from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6 that matches our beliefs and educational research about how children learn best.

Within the context of our increasingly global communities, the PYP challenges students to think critically, research deeply and develop internationally-minded perspectives on a broad range of issues.

Senior and Middle School:
Image of IB Boarding School in Toronto, Ontario for GirlsThe years from Grade 7 to 12 are years of immense growth and change for young women. The Senior and Middle School programs, exciting and demanding both inside the classroom and out, are created to help our students reach their full potential as learners and leaders at the school, and as accomplished citizens of their wider community.
The Middle Years Program (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate and the well-known Diploma Program (DP) are the cornerstones of the learning experience at this level. Pedagogy is organized to meet the learning styles and strengths of young women, and continues to be inquiry-based. Counselling and academic support for each girl, as she approaches university admission, is tailored to her goals, needs and strengths. Opportunities abound for girls to become involved in athletics, arts, leadership and community service.

Our graduates are welcomed by stellar universities throughout North America and around the world, many with scholarship offers.
