Master of Interior Design in Florence, Italy

The Master of Interior design is perfect for young graduates or professionals working in design interested in attending a specialization course. The objective of the Master is to produce a new professional quality by combining creative and technical skills. The Interior Design Master students will be issued stimulating design problems commonly faced in Italy’s modern society. They will be given the opportunity to examine the fundamentals of design together with more advanced topics such as fabrication, and design detailing. Other professional topics covered will be issues of project management and implementation aspects of interior design.

Master of Graphic Design

The Master of Graphic Design is intended for graduates of specialized schools, young designers, students with professional training and/or experience in: Graphic Design, Visual CommunicationImage of Art and Design Courses in Italys, Interactive Media, Communication Sciences, and Computer Sciences.

Academic Interior Design

Our academic level is ideal for students new to the field of Interior Design. For the entry level student, there are three options, a one year, two year or three year course. The one year course is a basic but intensive two (2) semester course that addresses all of the fundamentals of the interior design profession such as lighting, color, furniture design and space planning. Students with already degress in design may qualify for our Master's level

By combining knowledge with aesthetic vision, interior designers work with clients and other design professionals to develop solutions that are functional, attractive and meet the needs of the people using the space. Interior designers must especially know about the materials and products used to create and furnish space. Above all, they specialize in the interaction of texture, color, and lighting while creating human space.

Gap Year Art History
Gap Year with the Florence Institute

Masaccio, Donatello, Brunelleschi , Fra Angelico, Botticelli, just some of the many figures that have shaped Florence and that gave birth to the Renaissance which changed the shape of Art History in Italy. Through a combination of lectures and field trips, our Gap year course explores their works, their inspirations and the reasons for their choices – their interactions with Italy's Medici family, the social and political activities of the day and the resulting masterpieces that still inspire us now.

Architecture Summer Course
The Florence Institute offers architecture courses that teach drawing and observational skills plus an introduction to architectural theory and Italy's history. This course is designed for students with an interest in both the art and architecture of Italy. A majority of the course is conducted in the form of walking tours, where students can learn directly from the architecture of Florence.

FLORENCE OF THE RENAISSANCE

The revolution of art, architecture and culture that we associate with the Renaissance first occurred in the Italian city of Florence. During the Fifteenth century, Florence produced more influential creative genius that any other city of a parallel era. Masters such as Masaccio, Brunelleschi, Michelangelo, Dante and Da Vinci eternally all left their marks on the city and Western culture. Since that time, knowledge of Florence’s history and works has become essential to students of architecture and design throughout the world.

DESCRIPTION
Thecourse teaches drawing and observational skills together with a general overview of architectural history. The program is designed for students with a strong interest in Italian art, interior design and architecture. This course is excellent for students of all levels. People with a general interest in Architecture and Design, but have no immediate plans to pursue a degree are also encouraged to enroll. If you are currently an architecture student in your home country, please state so on your application.

An introduction to basic architectural principals. Exploration of elementary building concepts, form, surface, and space. Basic understanding of the urban context and how elements of the city relates. On site observational analysis. Developing basic sketching and drafting skills in various media. Furniture Summer Course
FURNITURE DESIGN COURSE

The purpose of the short course is to develop students’ knowledge and skills related to all aspects of furniture design from design, to development to production of prototypes. During the 4 week program, students study presentations of materials, history, theories, and detailing of Italian and International furniture.

The short course teaches furniture design skills together with a general overview of furniture history. The program is designed for students with a strong interest in Italian furniture design, interior design and industrial design. This course is excellent for students of all levels. People with a general interest in Furniture Design, but have no immediate plans to pursue a degree are also encouraged to enroll.

ITALIAN LANGUAGE
We also combine the Furniture Design courses with Italian language for 3hrs per week – a chance to build confidence and understanding of one of the most beautiful languages in the world. A development of knowledge of the language can help you to enjoy the culture and customs of Florence and Italy even more.

The Florence Art Studio
Courses / Programs
The Florence Art Studio offers custom-made, intensive art courses in drawing and painting for students of all levels and backgrounds in the heart of Florence city center.

Taught entirely in English, our intensive Art Program is divided into 6 separate modules covering drawing & painting skills, with each module serving as the foundation for the next. Alternatively, you can choose to take any module as a stand-alone course, from one week to a month or longer.

We help students achieve their goals in the most time-effective way possible through intensive individual training and one on one instruction.

Our students learn how to learn, be patient, disciplined, and objectively self-critical to transform every small obstacle or challenge into a rewarding lesson.

We seek students wishing to learn for self-improvement only. We do not offer academic credit, but we are affiliated with the British Institute of Florence, an accredited institution by the Tuscan government.
