At the College of English Language (CEL) in Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, we believe in the combination of quality English language / ESL teaching, an innovative approach to encourage student’s participation and an exciting outside-of-class program to strengthen and practice the skills learned in class. Our teaching philosophy and experience with students at different levels and from all over the globe have resulted in teaching methods that optimize your learning results.

All of our programs have a maximum of 10 students per class, and because of this small class size, students can be more active in the learning activities. "English-only" is strictly enforced in and outside the classroom.

English Exam Prep:

Private English Lessons
- One-on-one lessons with a teacher

English & Surfing:
- General English classes + 4 lessons of surf per week

The school is on the top level of a three-story office building and has plenty of natural light with windows looking over Wilshire Blvd. and downtown Santa Monica.

Our premises are new and modern. All of our classrooms are air-conditioned and have high speed internet access as well as free wireless internet access.

You can relax in our student lounge area and enjoy daily newspapers, complimentary fresh espresso coffee or tea.

There is no better way to experience the American way of life than staying with locals. Not only will you be able to practice your English with native speakers in a relaxed environment, but you will also discover the culture and customs of your American hosts.

Homestay is our most popular accommodation option at CSL. Homestay “families” can be traditional families with children but also a single woman, young or older couple with or without children living at home.

Please make sure to list any preferences you might have when you send your application. Homestays can be located between 30 – 50 minutes from the school by public transportation. There is also host families living closer to the school. Early bookings are recommended.
