Teach Me Mandarin, Dublin:
Teach Me Mandarin provides evening Mandarin Chinese language classes for beginners and intermediate levels. These classes are run from the Harcourt Hotel which is centrally located on Harcourt Street, off the south-west corner of St. Stephen's Green in Dublin City Centre. Harcourt Street is on the LUAS line which services from Grafton Street (one stop) to the north and to the Green Line Sandyford in the south. At a Teach Me Mandarin class, we take beginners and introduce Chinese Mandarin language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a fun, immersive and engaging way. So much so, we are 100% confident that by the end of your course, you will be able to communicate in a real Chinese environment.
Chinese Step 1
An 8 week evening course focusing on listening to and speaking common mandarin phrases to help you communicate in everyday situations - with a specific focus on everyday conversational phrases. In addition to these skills, you will also be introduced to the world of reading and writing some of the easier and most popular Chinese Characters (汉字)
The course is presented face to face in a classroom environment. The final class is held in an authentic Schezuan Chinese restaurant, where you will experience real Chinese cuisine whilst using your language to order foods, drinks. This is an unforgettable learning experience that you will remember for years to come!
The presentation material - plus a host of additional resources are made available to you on line to study at your own pace. In order to successfully master the phrases and get a good hold of pronunciation, vocabulary and some character recognition - YOU WILL NEED TO WORK HARD :-)
General Objectives and Expectations
- be able to communicate in Chinese using basic dialogue.
- be able to give simple oral presentations using correct pronunciation and expressions.
- have rudimentary knowledge of grammar and be able to read some basic characters and words.
- be able to write basic characters and understand the rules that govern the stroke order
- have a developing understanding of contemporary Chinese culture and be able to apply their language skills aptly and appropriately.
Chinese Step 2
These 12 weeks will focus on improving and expanding your listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. There are an additional 250 words on this step, with 500 on line exercises to help you on the way. Your tutor will be on hand in the classroom to give you real feedback and encouragement for progression.
The course is presented face to face in a classroom environment. You also have excellent back up on line with the course material and innovative tools for helping with pronunciation and grammar via your own private log in.
