Founded in 1995, Accademia del Giglio is a private Italian language and culture school based in Florence in the Tuscany region of Italy, approximately 3 hours north of Rome. Options include courses in Art History, Visual Arts, Drawing & Painting, Art Therapy, and more. Our classes are very small, and are held in a peaceful, quiet area in the city. At Accademia del Giglio, every effort is made to satisfy the student's needs and provide enjoyable lessons in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Finding good accommodation in Florence will make your stay thoroughly enjoyable. Accademia del Giglio takes great care in selecting homestays and apartments for its students. With four weeks' notice and a minimum stay of one week, our school can provide high standard accommodation:

Please note: Our aim is that students are happy with the accommodation we assign them. That is why Accademia del Giglio does not work as an estate agency and does not take any commission either from the house owners or from the students.

Members of staff at the Accademia del Giglio offer free advice on:

- Reliable and professional medical assistance, i.e. where to go and whom to contact, should a doctor be required.
- Public transports, travel cards, train time-tables and flight schedules, special travel offers for Italy and Europe;
- How to open a bank account, exchange foreign currency, receive money from abroad.
- Students' rights in relation to private accommodation or hotels.
- Entertainment, exhibitions, museums in Florence and Tuscany.
- How to enrol in University courses, at the Accademia di Belle Arti, regional and county schools.

You can fly from Milan or Rome into Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport. From there, it is easy to get into the city using public transportation or the "Fly by Bus" shuttle service. Since it is only five kilometers from the airport to the city, even a taxi ride will not break your budget.

Or do as the Italians do and take the high-speed Eurostar train from Milan (2 hours and a half journey) or Rome (1 hour and a half). You will be whizzed past the Tuscan countryside and into the heart of Renaissance Florence. You can also land at Pisa Airport: a swanky single-class train will whisk you to Florence in precisely an hour, every hour.

Pickup Service:
A member of staff will welcome the students on arrival at the station or at the airport and will take them to their accommodation in Florence. This service should be requested when the application form is first submitted and is available between 6am and midnight.
