ESAFC Design Textile, Paris:
ESAFC (École Supérieure d’Art Françoise Conte) located in the lively Bastille area of Paris, France, is a fashion design school offering a 3 year diploma in Textile and Surface Design. The textile surface designer has an essential role in the world of fashion. They forecast fashion phenomena and define on-coming trends. They seek to obtain the fibers, materials, patterns and colours for the different fields of application. Throughout the course, students undertake a number of work placement internships which are an indispensable complement to their studies.

Certificate of Textile and Surface Designer (3-year diploma course):

- Duration: 3 years. 28 hours of class per week (and additional personal work).

The education provided by the school covers in depth the specificities of textile and surface design for fashion and interiors. Throughout the three-year course, the students are faced with increasingly difficult tasks and constantly improve their plastic skills. During the third year of studies, students work on a personal project, which will be assessed by the jury.

Admission:
Baccalaureate or baccalaureate level in applied arts or plastic arts or preparatory year for entrance to art schools. There will also be a motivation interview including the presentation of a portfolio with personal artistic works. Direct admission to second year of studies is possible depending on the personal portfolio and on previous education.

Assessment:
There is an evaluation at the end of each semester, during which students present their work individually in front of the board of teachers. A passing average grade is required in every subject for the continuation of studies.

At the end of the third year, there is a two-day evaluation of a given topic related to applied arts. This evaluation, together with the student’s personal works, is submitted to a jury composed of fashion and interior designers. The teacher’s board will grant the Diploma of Textile and Surface Designer upon satisfaction of all requirements and on the final determination of qualification.

Studio Escalier

Studio Escalier is an independent, private, studio art school and international arts colony, founded in 2001 by Timothy Stotz, Anthony Ryder and Nicole Michelle Tully. We offer intensive art courses to both French and international students in Argenton-Chateau (now Argenton-les-Vallées), a commune in the Deux-Sèvres department in the Poitou-Charentes region of Western France, and drawing programs in Montmartre (18th Arrondissement), Paris. Occasionally, we invite select visiting faculty to offer courses. All course lectures are delivered in English.

Our studio facilities and lectures in Paris, as well as our campus in Argenton-Chateau are not open to the general public. Personal interviews and telephone interviews are not a part of the admissions process. All enrollment and administration is done via the internet.

Our student body has represented 30 different countries, more than 25 major cities worldwide, as well as 35 US states. We enroll anywhere from 25 to 55 students annually, across all programs. The average student age in our intensive courses is 30 years (Approximately 3/4 are age 18-29 & 1/4 are age 30-65), and for our shorter drawing programs & special programs is 44 years.
