CMEF, French Riviera:
The Centre Méditerranéen d'Etudes Françaises (CMEF) is located in the South of France, at the heart of the French Riviera, on the Cote d'Azur between Nice and Monaco in Monte Carlo. CMEF sets in a beautiful park overlooking the Mediterranean at the doorstep of Monaco. It is a non profit making organisation which complements the State Education system, and was founded in 1952.
Secondary and High School Classes
Main aims of our French lessons - Priority to oral expression
Teaching based on simulations, role playing etc. aims to encourage spontaneous oral expression and aid listening skills. At the same time, students will actively discover the extraordinary natural and cultural heritage of the French Riviera. During the stay, the French teacher(s) accompanying the students are in touch with our teachers in order to bring up to date or expand their teaching material: at the end of the stay, teachers receive a folder full of teaching ideas and activities.
DELF examinations
Help to pass the DELF examinations: students can prepare for and sit their DELF examinations for the A1, A2, B1, B2 certificates.
Introduced in 2001, we have thus adopted the CECRL (the European referencing for languages), allowing us to establish a teaching syllabus, to ensure progress is being made and at the end of the course, assess the level of our students using a European certificate of French studies which has been drawn up by the CMEF and is based on the criteria of the CECRL.
Our lessons are also aimed at helping the students prepare the French examinations: Advanced Placement (AP College Board) or International Baccalaureate (IBO) "French Language".
