Cake Baking Courses:

Prior to the 1930’s home made cake was much more popular than "bought" cake. Following the Second World War domestic baking began to decline and the sales of packaged cakes increased. We will teach you the basics of home made cake, and the more advanced Continental style gateau and torte. Our courses are for everyone, from the interested novice to the enthusiastic amateur. Our baking courses are not only rewarding but are enjoyable and great fun.

You will learn:
* About the various types of flours used in making the cake.
* How to cream, whisk and mix cake batters.
* How to handle the batter right through to the end of the baking stage.
* How to decorate the cake both prior to and after baking.

Sugar Craft Courses:

Once upon a time all special occasion cakes were decorated with Royal Icing. This type of icing tended to set rock hard, making it extremely difficult to cut the cake. All has now changed and sugar paste has become the preferred medium for cake decoration. Sugar craft is a creative art that can be learned and used to decorate cakes for those special occasions. Our courses are for everyone, from the interested novice to the enthusiastic amateur. Our sugar craft courses are not only rewarding but are enjoyable and great fun.

You will learn:
* The techniques of applying sugar paste to cakes of various sizes.
* How to use sugar paste equipment.
* The correct use and application of colours and textures.
* How to make drapes, bows and ribbons.
* How to make pinch and pull flowers, how to frill and how to make wired floral sprays.v

Connacht College Of Design

The Connacht College of Design is an interior design school that specialises in the Diploma in Professional Interior Design which is offered in various venues throughout Ireland. It is the only course that we offer, so we can concentrate on keeping it fresh and up to date each year.

We are a "school that comes to our students". Avail of Higher Education in Interior Design in your area. We offer upcoming classes in Galway, Castlebar, Sligo, Drogheda and Dundalk. We simply locate a large, safe hotel with excellent conference facilities, and rent this for the school year.

The Diploma in Professional Interior Design course is a combination of lecture, hands-on practical work, and optional field trips. This is a 23 session course consisting of one night per week for 13 weeks in-class lecture/workshop, 6 special design projects to build a portfolio and 4 optional field trips to interior design-oriented venues. Class hours are from 7:30 PM to approximately 10:30 PM. (Some classes will go longer, some are shorter.)
We offer our Diploma in Professional Interior Design course from September to March every year in venues throughout Ireland. Our curriculum covers not only the study and practice of interior design to a professional level, but how to promote and market yourself as an interior designer in a real-world environment.
