Founded in 1831, we provide a college preparatory curriculum for students who have demonstrated intellectual ability, yet have not reached their full potential. The Academy is proud of our 100% college acceptance rate and works hard to place our students in the best universities possible. With a student to teacher ratio of 6:1, students have the opportunity to experience academic success and growth.

Quality Education:

The college counseling department creates comprehensive, individualized plans for each student, beginning in sophomore year. Our English Language Program prepares international students for academic success in America.

Our Residential Life Program focuses on community building, forging friendships and teaching our young men how to navigate adolescence. Students are admitted anytime throughout the year.

We provide thoughtful integration of technology into all curricular areas; state-of-the-art equipment such as interactive whiteboards, documents cameras, handheld technologies and campus-wide wireless network. Small classes and individual attention are hallmarks of Grand River Academy.

Residential & Dorm Life:

Grand River Academy Residential Life Curriculum is taught during weekly residence hall meetings and every weekend. It is designed to address in-house issues among peers, educational concerns and community responsibility.

We work to develop and refine life skills and encompass emotional, philosophical, social and intellectual aspects of life at GRA.

The curriculum is one that encourages students to reach their potential in social as well as academic pursuits. Our community promotes student individuality and contributes to each students’ personal growth and well being.

Athletics :

We provide athletic teams for Jr. Varsity and Varsity in golf, tennis, soccer, basketball, bowling, lacrosse, baseball, wrestling and cross country.

The mission of GRA Athletics is to provide an environment focused on teamwork, emphasizing the value of competition, and a strong social conscience. This is in support of GRA’s school mission to develop young men academically and emotionally in preparation for college.

The Academy fields ten interscholastic teams each year. Our varsity teams allow student-athletes to participate against other public and private high schools in a very competitive environment.

International Student Program:

Our international students play an important role in our education-for-life approach to learning. We value our international students because we know we can help them learn about life in America – but equally because they help our American students learn about the world and life from different and vital perspectives.

We've created a program to work with students on achieving academic success – but equally important for achieving social success and maturing emotionally. Each student has his own individualized program based on “How to Succeed and Have More Fun as this American Boarding School.”

The "Partner" Program:
We pair each international student with an English Speaking Partner, one or our more experienced students, who acts as a mentor and friend, answering questions, suggesting ideas and helping to solve problems.
