Summer English Courses for Juniors in England

English Country Schools:
English Country Schools organises residential English language summer courses in the UK for children and teenagers ages 7 - 17 from around the world. Our English summer schools are held in well-equipped boarding schools in the countryside in Dorset and Oxfordshire, about two hours from London. All of our courses are accredited by The British Council. With over 20 years experience in successfully running our English summer schools, we combine English language teaching with a balanced programme of sports, social activites and excursions so that young people enjoy fun friendship and learning all day long.

We offer professional, accredited summer courses during which children and teenagers learn a lot of English. They have fun, make new international friendships, broaden their horizons and increase their self-confidence. We run separate courses for three different age groups: 7-10, 11-14 and 14-17. This enables us to match levels of care and content to the age, interests and ability of our students.

Our students come from over 25 different countries from around the world. We don’t allow groups from any one country. All students eat, sleep and receive lessons in the schools. There are comfortable recreation areas for relaxation with experienced staff to provide constant supervision and support.

English Language Classes:
At Port Regis there are 3 x 1 hour English lessons each weekday morning for 7-14 year olds. At Sibford there are 2 x 45-minute English lessons for the 14-17 year olds followed by a 90-minute educational workshop. Students are placed in English classes according to their age and ability to a maximum of 16 per group. Parents receive weekly online progress reports from their child’s teacher and a more general reports from activity staff and house parents at the end of the course. 

Professionally-Qualified Teachers:
At English Country Schools, professionally qualified teachers use effective modern techniques to create interesting, enjoyable English lessons. Teachers also help with the activity programme: this helps to establish a friendly rapport with students and ensures that the learning of English continues well beyond the classroom.

Our schools are situated in some of England’s finest countryside. They provide a safe, healthy location for a wide variety of supervised sports and activities, with many historic and cultural attractions in the locality.

English summer school for children & teenagers ages 7 - 14:
Located in beautiful Dorset in the South of England, our summer English school in Port Regis is set in large, private grounds and is approximately two hours from London. This school teaches students ages 7 - 14. Excellent facilities include a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, an all-weather hockey pitch, a new academic centre, a large sports hall and a 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool. Horse riding is available near the school. The school is personally supervised by Christopher and Sarah Etchells, Directors of English Country Schools.

English summer school for teenagers ages 14 - 17:
With easy access to London, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon, our English summer school for teenagers ages 14 - 17 takes place in Sibford. The school is beautifully situated in a small Cotswold village in the Oxfordshire countryside. Facilities include a 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool, sports hall, extensive sports fields, tennis courts, squash courts, drama and music studios and several computer suites. Golf and horse riding are available in the locality.
