Alchimia is a private contemporary jewelry school located in Florence, Italy - a city famed since medieval times for its tradition and excellence in art and crafts, We offer jewelry design courses at BA and specialization levels and also short-term intensive programs from 2 weeks to 3 months in length. The schools mission is to impart students with both technical and conceptual knowledge in contemporary jewelry, while providing a supportive and practical working environment.

Our three year program is structured in a sequential manner to allow students to slowly develop their awareness of both their own work, and the contemporary professional standards. The school admits a maximum of 12 students in each class. Interaction and comunication between students and teachers is essential and will instill students with enough experience to become professional makers, artists, designers.

Intensive courses with open dates all year and individual study programs (max. 4 students) give the opportunity to experience contemporary jewelry to both beginners and advanced students.

Courses / Programs:
We offer academic year courses for 32 weeks from September - June. Our three academic courses can be completed in sequence or taken individually. Each student has their own work bench all year.

- Basic JewellerGeneral Contact Pagey Course
Subjects covered include: basic goldsmith techniques, technical drawing, design and rendering, wax modelling

- Advanced Jewellery Course
Subjects covered include: advanced techniques, conceptual exercises, freehand drawing, history

- Specialization Course
Subjects covered include: free work with artist tutor (Manfred Bischoff), advanced techniques, contemporary art history, aesthetics, marketing, participation in exhibitions and fairs

Short-Term Courses:

We also offer short-term intensive jewellery courses. The intensive courses last from 2 weeks to 3 months and are a good solution for those who have limited time to study and experiment in the area of contemporary jewellery. The courses are taught on a one-to-one basis and are available throughout the year, beginning on Mondays, excluding the month of August. Each student is guided individually to ensure that lessons meet their specific need. Two different types of programmes are offered: technical and conceptual.
