Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School, Florence:Founded in 1985 by Giò Carbone, Le Arti Orafe was the first Italian school dedicated to the study of contemporary jewellery, with its own original vision which has Always favoured and promoted a Learning process based on the acquisition of solid technical and professional skills combined with artistic research and design. LAO invented, developed and perfected a creative and personalised method of Learning, concentrating on innovation and research but without losing sight of the acquisition of the techniques and concepts particular to this creative Sector.

The concept of jewellery has envolved in a surprising manner since the 1970s with the arrival of artists and jewellers who have conducted research into the creation of contemporary jewellery. The processes, materials, functions, significance and social use of jewellery have changed. Teaching and Learning methods have changed, as have the tools and communication.
Contemporary attitudes have also invaded the world of jewellery, which appeared ald and "dusty". LAO has contributed and is contributing in a defining manner to this constant evolution. LAO is a Training Agency accredited by the Tuscan Regional Authority and certified according to the ISO standards 9001, can offer recognised and financed courses in addition to participating in the main European programmes, and is unanimously recognised as one of the most prestigious European schools.

The school was estabished in 1998 and is located in the old part of Florence. There are classrooms for drawing and designing both by hand and by computer, and a large. fully-equipped workshops with individual professional workbenches, and the instruments and tools needed for the various specialisations as well as machinery for complete cycle casting.Courses are available for a minimum of one month and a maximum of a year and are aimed at those are newcomers to the craft and also those who already have some basic knowledge and wish to gain specialisation.The wide variety of classes with different duration are designed to adapt to the skills, capacities, demands and objectives of each individual student.
The beginners have to follow a precise programme constructing simple pieces in order to learn how to work with metal, laminating, wiredrawing, soldering etc.
When the student is able to manage the main techniques, creativity can be used in constructing more complexe pieces: the various components and their combination, uniting the parts (soldering or mechanical jointing). Our jewellery making course includes some of the traditional tecniques as engraving, stone setting and fretwork.
All students are together in the same laboratory but everyone works at his/her own level on different objects.
Everyone's programme is tailored to their own experience. Lessons are morning and afternoon every day from Monday to Friday. Lessons are held in Italian but we have a teaching assistant who can help students when they do not understand.

• Alchimia is a private professional contemporary jewellery school in the historic city of Florence in Tuscany, Northern Italy. • We provide academic jewellery design courses at Bachelor's (BFA) degree, Masters (MFA) degree, and 1-year academic courses, as well as short-term, intensive programs including weekend courses, 2 week to 6 month courses, and summer study options.
• Our short courses are available year-round, and have open dates, with individual study programs (max. 5 students) to offer the opportunity to experience contemporary jewellery to both beginners and advanced students.
• Our Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree courses are accredited by the European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools (E.A.B.H.E.S.), an organisation that allows all of our students to obtain a European Bachelor’s degree.

The Florence Art Studio

The Florence Art Studio offers custom-made, intensive art courses in drawing and painting for students of all levels and backgrounds in the heart of Florence city center.Taught entirely in English, our intensive Art Program is divided into 6 separate modules covering drawing & painting skills, with each module serving as the foundation for the next. Alternatively, you can choose to take any module as a stand-alone course, from one week to a month or longer.
We help students achieve their goals in the most time-effective way possible through intensive individual training and one on one instruction.
Our students learn how to learn, be patient, disciplined, and objectively self-critical to transform every small obstacle or challenge into a rewarding lesson.
We seek students wishing to learn for self-improvement only. We do not offer academic credit, but we are affiliated with the British Institute of Florence, an accredited institution by the Tuscan government.
We also offer short workshops throughout the year including Watercolor, Still Life, Fresco and Oil Painting, private lessons, weekend classes, holiday & vacation programs, and preparation courses for entrance exams to Fine Arts schools.

Courses / Programs
Accademia d'arte offers specialized art holidays in Italy. We are located at the border of the Italian Riviera and the famous French "Cote d'Azur", next to Monte Carlo. International artist Nicole Durand offers painting, drawing and scuplture classes and workshops for beginner to advanced artists. Classes can be taught in English, Italian and French.
We also provide cooking lessons, food and wine testing, museum visits and other excursions to allow you to experience the Italian language and culture.
Each student is assigned a semi private studio to study and develop their own personal work, with 24 hour access, in a safe environment at the school.
Normally students come for short periods (one to 3 months) however there are many students who choose to remain longer. We organize housing for each student close to the studio. Non-painting partners are welcome.
