Bow and Arrow Game Online for Kids - Hedgehood
Hedgehood is a fun physics-based arrow shooting game where you have to use carefully-placed magnets, and the law of gravitation in order to fire arrows toward seemingly unreachable targets (apples). To truly make your name as an online sharpshooter, you must become proficient at archery - the noble, medieval form of bow and arrow shooting made famous by the legendary Robin Hood! You play the role of a crafty, arrow-firing hedgehog, and have to pit your wits against 4 distinct and difficult game modes.
This straight-forward yet surprisingly-tricky online arrow shooting activity requires a steady hand, logical thinking ability, plenty of patience, and good old trial and error. An understanding of magnetic fields and reactions is not essential (there is a dotted yellow flight path to assist you), but there are some levels where some appreciation of the law of gravitation might come in handy (basically, what goes up almost always goes down). Fast reactions and sharp keyboard tapping are also important as you may have to fire arrows in quick succession in certain levels. Unleash your inner Robin Hood as you compete to become the most successful archer in the business!
How to Play: There are 4 distinct game modes to choose from, with 10 increasingly challenging levels in each mode - Classic Shooting, Timed Shooting, Blind Shooting, and Sharp Shooting.
In Classic Shooting Mode, you simply have to eliminate all of the apples in each level. You only have a limited number of arrows, and you have to contend with awkwardly-placed obstacles and a number of movable magnets. In Timed Shooting Mode, you have to complete the levels (eliminate all apples) within a set time. In Blind Shooting Mode, there is no dotted yellow flight path, so you have to move magnets around and keep firing (trial and error) until you hit the target apples. Finally, in Sharp Shooting Mode, you have to score points by hitting as close to the center of classic archery targets as possible.
The controls for firing your arrows are the same in each playing mode. Your bow is in a fixed position, and you can only alter the path of the arrow by maneuvering the red and blue magnets that are positioned around the play area. Using your computer mouse or touchpad, Left Click and drag the magnets in different directions. Your dotted yellow flight marker indicates the path that your arrow is going to follow. As you move the magnets, this path is changed. You have to position the magnets in a way that your arrow eventually hits an apple. Once you are happy with the positioning, press Spacebar on your computer keyboard to fire (alternatively, you can click on the bow).
Once all apples (or targets) have been eliminated, you progress to the next level (unless this is over the time limit in Timed Shooting Mode). If you run out of arrows before clearing the game screen of apples, you fail the level. If you get stuck at any stage, click on the Restart button in the bottom right corner of the play area, and try again. Happy arrow shooting - see if you can complete all 40 levels!
