American University Center of Provence, Aix en Provence:
The American University Center of Provence located in Aix en Provence in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, department of Bouches-du-Rhône in southeastern France is proud to offer for-credit, high-level French immerson programs in the south of France: Fall, Spring and Summer options. The Programs focus on French, Liberal Arts, Painting, International Relations, Arabic and Cross-Cultural Communication. Challenging, comprehensive and innovative, the Aix academic program motivates learning both inside and outside the classroom. The graduate level Master's program, in collaboration with the Institut d'Etudes Politiques, offers an intercultural approach to the design and management of non-governmental organizations. Ensuring a motivating interdisciplinary learning experience, French Practicum, the cornerstone of AUCP academics, brings together the curricular with the extracurricular, combining classwork with experiential learning including homestay and community service.
The small average class size of AUCP courses makes for close personal interaction and guidance. Courses demand considerable outside work and follow-up. Regular attendance is required. While mid-semester vacations allow for sensible traveling, the focus is upon serious academic work and in-depth involvement in the local community.
While all AUCP course work is related intimately to each student’s personal cross-cultural experience, the mandatory course French Practicum provides an essential link between academic work and direct French cultural experience.
