The Art Hand:
The Art Hand is located on the southern coast of Ireland in County Waterford at the heart of an area called the Copper Coast. It is located at the heart of Waterford’s Copper Coast between Bunmahon and Annestown in an area of outstanding natural beauty with its spectacular cliffs and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The area is designated by UNESCO as a geopark; a place of great geological significance. In the 18th century the area had a booming copper mining industry the remnants of which can be seen close by at the old Tankardstown Engine House. It’s quite a dramatic landmark with its austere buildings and towering brick chimney. The Art Hand is the closest building to these old ruins.
Be inspired by the unique local landscapes and wildlife. We have photographed Whales, Seals, Otters, kestrels and Cormorants from our field along the cliff. There’s a pathway around the edge with five or six viewing areas along the cliff. Please be cautious. We have also seen Foxes, Hares, field mice, an owl and a mink. There’s even a couple of wild deer living in the fields behind us, although we haven’t seen them yet. The coastal flowers are breathtaking. Moths, Butterflies and all kinds of strange insects pass through on the wind.
The spacious barren exposed landscape has a backdrop of the old Copper mines with dramatic sunsets. Enjoy the space and tranquillity of this stunning location on the Copper Coast in County Waterford. One of Ireland’s hidden treasures. Sit on the cliff top and watch the weather roll in from the south-west.
Storms here are exhilarating and the fog is spooky. The weather can change in a matter of minutes and the sky and light is always dramatic. A photographer or nature lovers paradise.

Location and Facilities:
This is The Art Hand on the Waterford Coast road in an area called The Copper Coast. We have a living roof on our home which is connected to the cottage which houses the main studio space of The Art Hand.
Waterford is well connected by rail, bus, road, air and sea. It is approximately 100km from Cork City and 135km from Dublin. Waterford Airport offers flight to and from destinations within Ireland and the UK.

The Digital Media and Arts Research Centre is an internationally-recognised leader in advanced music technology education and research and is part of The University of Limerick, Ireland. The National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland occupies a unique position in art and design education in Ireland. The Connacht College of Design is an interior design school that specialises in the Diploma in Professional Interior Design which is offered in various venues throughout Ireland. It is the only course that we offer, so we can concentrate on keeping it fresh and up to date each year. We are a "school that comes to our students". Avail of Higher Education in Interior Design in your area. We offer upcoming classes in Galway, Castlebar, Sligo, Drogheda and Dundalk. We simply locate a large, safe hotel with excellent conference facilities, and rent this for the school year.
The Diploma in Professional Interior Design course is a combination of lecture, hands-on practical work, and optional field trips. This is a 23 session course consisting of one night per week for 13 weeks in-class lecture/workshop, 6 special design projects to build a portfolio and 4 optional field trips to interior design-oriented venues. Class hours are from 7:30 PM to approximately 10:30 PM. (Some classes will go longer, some are shorter.)
We offer our Diploma in Professional Interior Design course from September to March every year in venues throughout Ireland. Our curriculum covers not only the study and practice of interior design to a professional level, but how to promote and market yourself as an interior designer in a real-world environment.
