What is your student to instructor ratio?
SWIM WORKS offers the smallest class sizes available so our students always receive the attention they need. We provide
3 class size options: Private lessons (1:1 instructor to student ratio), Semi-Private lessons (1:2 instructor to student ratio), and Small Group lessons (1:3 instructor to student ratio).
Placement in group lessons is based on age and ability level.
Are there age limits to participation?
SWIM WORKS teaches children as young as 3 months. There are no upper age limits, but all students must submit a medical release prior to participation.
What qualifications do your instructors have?
All instructors are required to maintain current American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED. All SWIM WORKS staff members undergo extensive pre-employment training and receive regular In-Service training. Many have additional certifications, training, and experience in Water Safety Instruction, Adaptive Aquatics for those with special needs, and competitive and fitness swim training.
Do you give private lessons?
Yes, we offer private lessons as well as semi-private and small group lessons.
What if I miss a class?
We offer one make-up class per semester. Make-up classes MUST be arranged with at least two weeks advanced notice so that we may adequately staff the pool.
What should I bring to class?
Each student MUST bring proper swimwear to class. Our classes sometimes involve vigorous physical activity, so bikinis are not recommended for female students (competitive-style one-piece or jog-bra type suits are suggested). Children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers or rubber pants. Goggles, swim caps, towels, and clean rubber flip-flops or shower shoes are strongly suggested. STREET SHOES AND STROLLERS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE POOL DECK. Male and Female locker rooms are available, along with a co-ed shower area. Swimmers MUST wear their bathing suit in the shower area.
What disabilities does your Adaptive Aquatics program cater to?
We welcome all interested students to the program regardless of disabilities. We have experienced instructors that work with students with a wide array of physical and mental disabilities including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, and limited mobility.
What are the conditions of the pool?
The water is always kept warm and is tested 3 times a day to maintain proper levels of disinfectant and chemical balance. The pool is disinfected with a salt system that provides safe levels of chlorine to prevent transmission of water-borne illnesses while reducing the amount of harsh byproducts associated with traditional chlorination systems.
