International Boarding School Programs for Girls Ages 13-18:
Classes are taught through English, with additional language courses available throughout each curriculum

- Foundation Year
Surval welcomes students from the age of 13+, for a Foundation Year which will prepare them either for the American High School Progam or for the IGCSE and A Levels. It can also be taken as an independent year for a girl who wants a year in an international environment before starting a programme in her own country. Students can use the year to combine the academic curriculum with the Surval Culinary Arts cookery course.

- IGCSEs
IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is the world’s most popular international curriculum for 14-16 year olds.  IGCSE provides excellent preparation for more advanced study including AS and A Levels, as well as other progression routes. It incorporates the best in international education for learners at this level. It develops in line with changing needs, and is regularly updated and extended

- American High School Program (Grades 9 to 12)
This international study program and diploma is aimed at students who wish to enter colleges in the US and Canada, Business schools, or other institutions. The program can be combined with electives from the Liberal Arts Program, and the Surval Culinary Art cookery course.  It will also include sport and a wide set of enrichment options.

English language requirements for all high school students:
- Minimum TOEFL score of 500 or
- Cambridge First Certificate

- A Levels
After IGCSE students move into the Sixth Form to study for AS and Advanced Levels (A2), successful completion of which leads on to University or other courses and eventual careers.  In the Lower Sixth, (British Y12, American 11th grade) students can choose four subjects to study in depth.  This gives them flexibility, and again as a small school we are able to offer girls the courses they particularly enjoy or want to take further.  They continue into the Upper Sixth, (Y13 British, American 12th Grade) with three, sometimes four of these subjects, or they can choose to start another AS Level.

- Liberal Arts Programme
A unique and exciting offering at Surval is our new Liberal Arts course, designed for students who want one or two years in an international setting with a course that has depth and interest, without necessarily leading to examinations. We have designed a course which we hope will give them the skills to contribute in the best possible way: to learn good judgement to distinguish the true from the false, in what they read, in what they hear, in what they see.

- Summer Camp
Our summer camp is a wonderful opportunity to learn and have fun in an international setting. For nine weeks over the summer, from June to the end of August, we run three consecutive courses of three weeks’ duration for girls between the ages of 11 and 18, from all around the world.

- Winter Camp
In January/February, we organize a special course for the students who cannot stay for the whole Winter term. They can enroll for 2 - 3 weeks and prolong their stay after that from week to week according to individual wishes. We offer French or English courses in the morning, and skiing with instructors in the afternoon. In addition, we offer a wide variety of activities: excursions to Lucerne or Lugano, swimming, horse-drawn sleigh-ride and torch-light descent from Gütsch.
