Nora Martin Swim School, Austin:
The Nora Martin Swim School in Austin, Texas, is a private Swimming School offering individual and group lessons to children & adults of all ability levels. Students are taught so that they are comfortable swimming underwater & able to take a breath before moving on to more complex skills. Since the back float & elementary backstroke are crucial life saving skills, they are taught along with proper underwater swimming first. Beginner & novice level swimmers learn step by step diving technique as well.

Baby/Buddy 18m-2.6m/NON-water adjusted:

Main focus under water adjustment with:
- Rain Clouds
- Slide
- Jumps from steps to parents/teacher
- Jumps from side of pool to parents/teachers
- Water balloon chases
- Toy chases


Beginner:

2.5m-3 years/water adjusted:
- Main focus under water adjustment with:
- Under water bear arms…preferably with bubbles
- Puppy paddles…to assist in getting a breath of air
- BACK FLOATS…in order to roll to back for air/rest
- Demonstrate bear arms and breathing…parents must sit child on side and demonstrate
- Use of t-shirts for swims w/lift of t-shirt…assists child in breathing independently
- Sending child to side and steps…importance of child picking a spot to swim to
- Jump in, swim to side…Jump in, roll to back

Advanced Beginner Swim Level:

Goals:
- Staying under water, gliding with bubbles…
- Popping head up for a long enough time to get air independently
- Floating comfortably on back: Rolling from front to back
- Executing Elementary Back Stroke (legs & arms work together: up, out, together…)
- "Rainbows" with "quiet legs" no kicking
- Bobs – submerging entire head under with bubbles, in shallow end


Novice Swim Level:


Basic Skills:
- Submerges entire head comfortably
- Makes ocean volcanoes (blows bubbles while entire head is under H2O)
- Prone glide with bubbles (power float or shooting star)
- Comfortable floating on back w/no help
- Elementary backstroke (circles, wings, fly)
- Breast stroke with bubbles (rainbows)
- Gets breath of air independently while doing rainbows

Deep Water Skills:
- Jump in pop up treads water
- Jump in roll to back/elementary backstroke
- Jump/dive in swim length of pool underwater w/breaths
- Knee dive and compact racing dive from standing


Intermediate Swim Level:


Basic Skills:
- Elementary back stroke (Red Cross "tired swimmer" stroke
- Back stroke
- Free style
- Breast stroke
- Racing Dive
- Stamina & strengthening drills/laps

Advanced Swim Level Stroke Work:

Breast Stroke:
- Reaching far in front of body with both hands pulling arms in more quickly starting at chest level
- legs assisting to push body through the water by coming together in a strong gliding motion
- body remains shallow, top of head is out of the water
breathing after each pull
- Pull!.....Pull!......Pull!

Free Style:
- Extending arms just about full length in front of head before beginning to pull
- arms close in to body, grazing head.
- fingers together entering water first
- kick is just below the surface of the water, at a constant and consistent pace
- Flutter kick is your motor- must be strong to go faster!

Back Stroke:
- Arms slicing into water right next to head, scrapping ears with pinky leading the way
- arms are fully extended fingers are together
- kick is just below the surface of the water, at a constant and consistent pace
- Flutter kick is your motor- must be strong to go faster!
- Reach!.....Reach!....Reach!

Racer Dive:
- Enter water with arms coming together in front, chin tucked down. Use toes to shoot off wall as far out as possible. After entering the water stay shallow and begin flutter kick. Start arms when getting air
- If you are not swimming efficiently, (meaning correctly), you will not be fast.
- Take the time to learn it correctly- then work on speed.

AquaKids Swim School, Flower Mound
Courses / Programs
AquaKids Swim School in Flower Mound TX, in the North Dallas area, provides year-round swimming lessons to children and teenagers of all ages in our heated, indoor swimming pool. We offer private and semi-private swim classes as well as Mommy & Me classes for infants from 6 months old. In addition, we provide private swim classes for adults. We also have a swim school in Keller, a northern suburb of Fort Worth.

AquaSteps is a member of the United States Swim School Association (USSSA). Our friendly and experienced teachers use our industry-leading AquaSteps program to teach your child how to swim. All swim instructors are required to hold current CPR certifications and have completed 40 hours of the AquaSteps Swim instructor training.

Most instructors are also First Aid and Lifeguard certified as well. All teachers attend monthly in-sessions to keep up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and development within AquaKids. In addition, all employees are required to pass a background screen and drug test prior to being hired.

El Paso Aqua Posse

El Paso Aqua Posse (EPAP) is a year-round competitive swim team that has become one of the most successful swim programs in Texas. The El Paso Aqua Posse founded in 1957, boasts swimmers that range from pre-competition to Olympic Trial Qualifiers by providing an environment which allows for each swimmer to maximize their potential. EPAP has grown into El Paso’s largest and most active swim team drawing members from all geographic sections of the city and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. We are a proud and contributing member of both USA and Border Swimming.

Swimmers are placed into practice groups based on their skill level, age and commitment to training. The coaches will determine the best practice group for your swimmer and placement will be done with your swimmer's best long-term interests in mind.
EPAP competes on three levels:
- Del Norte League: for ages 12 & under with limited experience
- Invitationals: Locally and out-of-town
- State, Regional, and National Meets: For swimmers who qualify
