Boarding At Moreton Hall:

We have a well-established boarding facility for boys and girls (ages 7-13). We also offer an overseas boarding programme for our overseas students. Boarding may be ‘full', “weekly” or on a “flexible” nightly basis. At Moreton Hall, boarding is run very much as an extended family. The headmaster and his wife oversee the boarding house, which is situated in the heart of the main school building. A dedicated team of two matrons and resident gap students supports the headmaster.

- Full-time usually means living at school during the week and at weekends with visits home at exeat weekends and holidays. Weekly boarding means that you spend all week from Sunday to Thursday night inclusive at school. Flexi-boarding or “occasional boarding” may mean that you stay at school one or two nights a week. Many of our boarders have achieved 13+ scholarships.

- Our Boarders develop close friends, and have unparalleled opportunities for sporting, cultural and leisure activities at their well-resourced school in beautiful Suffolk countryside. They learn to be tidy, organised and self-sufficient. Children are encouraged to be independent and use their initiative. We aim to ensure that a balanced programme is reached so that the Boarders are well-rounded individuals who can approach their senior schools with confidence.

Prep School Programmes:

- The Prep School is formed of Years 3 through to 8 (and we call them Transition, then Forms 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8). Transition and Form 4 still follow a class teacher model, with one teacher delivering the lion's share of the lessons.

- Whilst this consistency is maintained, the children also start to meet specialist staff as part of their routine. From Form 5 the focus shifts wholeheartedly to a subject taught model, with the boys and girls now receiving their lessons from a full spread of our staff in a sensibly paced run-up towards their Entrance examinations at the end of Form 8. We also offer Nursery School and Pre-Prep School facilities.

Our Religious Identity:

Our religious identity endorses the key values of not only right and wrong, but forgiveness too. Exploring depends on being prepared to get lost sometimes, but having the courage not to stay that way. Whilst Catholicism offers Moreton Hall its compass, we are a community of more than one faith and a common purpose.

Rochester Independent College
Courses / Programs
Located in the County of Kent, just east of London, Rochester Independent College (RIC) is a progressive alternative to conventional secondary education with a happily distinctive ethos.

Accepting day students from the age of 11 and boarders from 16, the focus is on exam success in a lively, supportive and informal atmosphere. Students are encouraged to be themselves and achieve exam results that often exceed their expectations.

The College has an atmosphere closer to university than school. About 65 of the College's 280 students are boarders. Our Halls combine the informality of a university residence with the supervision and pastoral support appropriate for young adults.

The College offers students the opportunity to thrive in an atmosphere of managed independence, and acts as a stepping stone between school and university.

Students who are 15 are considered if their 16th birthday falls within the first half term of the academic year. College accommodation is in either single or double rooms. All rooms have a direct telephone and internet connection.

RIC is accredited by the ISC (Independent Schools Council) and a member of the Independent Schools Association.
