Cambridge CELTA courses
Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is the most widely recognised qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language ( TEFL) and is generally the minimum requirement that most employers demand. The general aim of the scheme is to provide comprehensive initial training for entry into English Language teaching and is therefore a pre-service, initial scheme. This means that the course will concentrate on the practical rather than on the theoretical aspects of teaching and it will provide a broad perspective of classroom practice rather than a specialised narrow one.
The syllabus consists of five units of learning that deal with specific topic areas in the teaching of ESOL:
- Unit 1: Learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context
- Unit 2: Language analysis and awareness
- Unit 3: Language skills : reading, listening, speaking and writi
- Unit 4: Planning and resources for different teaching contexts
- Unit 5: Developing teaching skills and professionalism
Course Programme
The course is divided into 4 distinct areas:
- Input. Daily sessions and workshops on Teaching Language Analysis and implementing Methodology.
- Teaching Practice is a main component of the certificate and takes place every day.
