In this unit you learn how to prepare effectively for each class, online or face to face.
You also examine how to manage disruptive students and strategies you can implement to avoid cheating and to inspire and motivate your students.
HOW TO TEACH: Grammar
For English student’s grammar is everything, the difference between, Let’s eat Dad! and Let’s eat, Dad, literally can be life and death.
This unit explores the basics of grammar to provide you with the tools you need to teach your students effectively without the need for you to re-learn every single aspect of grammar.
Through these lessons you will learn what you need to teach beginner through to advanced students the basics of English grammar.
HOW TO TEACH: Pronunciation
The correct em-PHA-sis- on the correct syl-LA-ble.
Simply emphasising the middle syllable these words become unrecognisable, pronunciation is key to your students sounding natural and understanding what is spoken.
In this unit, you will learn techniques to assist your students with pronunciation and explore your role as a teacher in teaching correct pronunciation.
HOW TO TEACH: Listening and Reading
Everything in writing begins with language. Language begins with listening.
In this unit, you will explore the receptive skills of listening and reading.
You will learn how to teach receptive skills to beginner, intermediate and confident students along with examples and techniques you can implement to improve your receptive skill teaching technique.
HOW TO TEACH: Speaking and Writing
Write to be understood and speak to be heard.
In this unit, you will learn how to teach your students the productive skills of speaking and writing.
You will explore motivation for using these productive skills and also informal and formal use, through this you will gain the skills and confidence to deliver an effective productive skills lesson.
HOW TO: Assess
If you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right!
You need to motivate your students, provide them with the tools to instil confidence so your students will excel at the English language.
In this unit you will learn the importance of assessment including assessments for learning and assessments of learning and how best to include assessments for your classes or individuals.
