University College Utrecht:
University College Utrecht (UCU) is the international honors college of Utrecht University (Shanghai ranking: best Dutch university) in the Netherlands. UCU specializes in liberal arts and sciences undergraduate education, and students choose from 200 different courses in humanities, science and social sciences leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science honors degree.

The UCU approach is personal: classes never exceed 25 students, and class participation is actively encouraged. The admissions process is highly selective: students are admitted on the basis of academic excellence, but an international focus, social engagement and extracurricular pursuits are of equal importance. All 700 students (40% international) live on campus in the historic city of Utrecht.

Accreditation:
UCU is fully accredited and internationally evaluated as ‘excellent’ on ‘level achieved’ and ‘quality of education’ by a joint commission consisting of a council from QANU - an independent assessor of higher education programs in Holland - and delegates from the American Higher Learning Commission.

The 2008 Academic Ranking of World Universities conducted by Shanghai University rates Utrecht University as the best Dutch and 9th best European University. The research focused Shanghai ranking is an influential index of universities worldwide.

In the 2008 issue of Elsevier magazine’s extensive survey among Dutch institutes of higher education, students rate UCU and Roosevelt Academy as the best undergraduate programs in the country.

It is not only an important junction where traffic, trade, distribution and services meet and mingle, but also a true knowledge centre: apart from Utrecht University it houses important research institutes and several other institutes of higher education.

With its 300,000 inhabitants, Utrecht is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands and with no less than 50,000 of the inhabitants being students, Utrecht is a real student city.

Several canals crisscross the city and encircle the city centre. The Dom tower is the focal point of the city: with a height of 112 metres, it offers a magnificent view over the city.

To the south of the Dom is the ‘museumkwartier’, the city’s museum quarter. There you will find a varied offering of excellent museums in a setting of picturesque courtyards, unexpected small restaurants and delightful little shops.
