Masters Programmes
Including Postgraduate Certificates, Diplomas and Masters level awards
The overall purpose of the Masters programmes is to deepen and refine the capacity of students to reflect critically upon and confront their thinking and practice. Central to this is the recognition that students entering the scheme are able members of their professions.
Professional development is at the heart of the Masters programmes. It is fundamental to maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness of educational organisations in which students work (the experiences which each person brings to their studies is a resource that will be drawn upon continuously). Thus, the programmes are designed to support both individual and organisational development.

While each programme has its own unique focus, all are concerned with investigating currently significant issues in the light of economic and social contexts, appropriate literature and the shared experience of the participants. Seminars, workshops and tutorials are part of the formal structure of many of the programmes; additionally, the informal contacts and discussions that take place between tutors and students are invaluable parts of the experience of advanced study. Systematic inquiry is a fundamental and continuing strand throughout, and students are encouraged to identify issues that are significant to them and the organisations from which they come.
