JoeDaisy Studio, Reading:
Welcome to JoeDaisy Studio. We are a Professional Art Studio, located in a Grade II listed building in the conservation area of Mapledurham, just outside Reading, Berkshire, South East England, 45 miles (70 km) west of London. We have a Painting Studio, where everyone has their own Professional Easel, painting table, paints, brushes, canvases, high stool etc. We also have an upstairs Lounge, with art books and a photo library plus an art gallery. We offer you a variety of Painting Holidays and Courses in a Professional Studio. All professional art materials provided. Our courses are exciting, different and creative. Your tutor guides you through every stage. Brush control, brush strokes, different techniques for different effects, composition, tonal values, focal points, colour balance, perspective and drawing. The emphasis is on you and developing your own style. We want to bring out the artist in you. So the courses are not designed to help you learn to paint.
Beginners Starter:
The Course Programmes are created exclsusively by JoeDaisy Studio - designed to give the student the very best course content and teaching.
Everyone has their own space, with Professional easel, painting table, paints, brushes etc. All materials are provided.
Your tutor paints along with you and guides you through every stage. Brush control, brush strokes, different techniques for different effects, composition, tonal values, focal points, colour balance, perspective and drawing.
ONE IMPORTANT POINT - DO not be afraid!! . The weekends are fun, relaxed and rewarding. You go at your own pace and your tutor is encouraging, patient and non judgemental. For all we know you will probably turn out to be better painters than us - so we are not here to judge - just to give you excellent teaching and professional help.
You are shown how to paint 1) an 'Interpretive' Landscape in acrylic. 2) Draw and create a landscape on location. (subject to weather and time) 3) Paint a still Life in acrylic.
Get Creative:
This is our original course in the Mapledurham Studio in 2005 - which everyone raved about and gives you a Professional 'overview' of fine art painting. You paint in acrylics on the first day and you can chose either oils or acrylics on the second.
This is an Improvers course - where we concentrate on 'Fine Art' paintings - that is great composition, (this is explained on the course). We make working drawings on location and work on tonal values and great paint techniques with all your professional materials provided. Lunch and take away tuition manuals.
Contemporary Weekend:
'Stage 3' This weekend is all about 'thinking', Interpretation and development. Being an Artist is all about 'what you have to say' - 'a mission'
The concentration is on profesional painting and composition- which start from concepts and mental thinking.
This is a more challenging painting course where you use your brain as well as your hands.
Painting is all about you and your style.
Your style is what makes you special and the word 'contemporary' means 'of the moment'. Having your own style is what is important in being an artist.
So this weekend is all about 'Interpretation', 'Concepts' and learning to 'See and Interpret'
Caroline shows you how to 'Interpret'. this is for students with confidence or ideally after you have attended Stage 1 and Stage 2.
The emphasis is on; interpretation, concepts, composition, tonal values, colour balance, focal points, brush marks, how the paint works etc.
Watercolour Weekends:
Our watercolour weekends are in the Studio and on location. (Subject to weather). That's the beauty of having the Professional Art Studio, we don't let the weather stop us doing anything!
The essence of a good watercolour drawing is good drawing - so your artist shows you how to compose your drawings, finding your focal point and thinking about perfect composition. You learn tonal values - very important factor in watercolour painting. How to use your brushes etc. All your professional materials are included - including BIG heavyweight paper and the selection of all watercolour brushes. From Mops to Riggers!
These are usually lovely weekends where we combine learning all you need to know in the Studio with going on location, to the fantastic countryside and architecture of Mapledurham.
