The Department of Kinesiology, Neag School of Education at University of Connecticut offers undergraduate and graduate degrees within the contexts of Athletic Training, Exercise Science, and Social Science of Sport. Athletic Training Education Program
The Athletic Training Education Program at the University of Connecticut is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The program is a highly competitive academic program that prepares students for a professional career in the field of athletic training. Athletic Training is an allied health care profession which has been formally recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) since 1991. The Certified Athletic Trainer, in cooperation with physicians and other allied health care professionals, is an integral member of the health care team who cares for the physically active. Exercise Science
The Department of Kinesiology offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in exercise science, including an undergraduate degree in strength and conditioning which can lead to certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. These programs, depending on the extent of your education, could to any of the following professions: exercise specialist, strength and conditioning specialist, personal trainer, laboratory technician, or exercise scientist.
Sport Management
Undergraduate concentrations in the Sport Management program include Coaching and Administration and Sport Management.
A graduate program in Sport Management is also available. Students may earn a master of arts in Sport Management and a Ph.D. in Sport Management.
The Department also operates the Laboratory for Sport Management and Sociology as an educational resource for undergraduate and Master’s students and a research laboratory for Ph.D. students and faculty members
