Summer School for Fine Arts & Media, Venice:
The International Summer Academy for Fine Arts and Media in Venice, Italy is a combination of academic studies and an open academy. The courses are offered for students of universities as well as for applicants without training in art. In this way, it combines advanced level with open accessibility. Courses take place parallel to the Venice Biennales, which also influence the program. The uniqueness of the summer academy in Venice is the concept of small, specialized classes with the possibility to combine them. All courses include a training module for beginners providing techniques and skills with most recent didactic methods.
The International Summer Academy for Fine Arts and Media, Venice was founded by professors who have been teaching at European and U.S. schools. They are bringing the didactic, factual knowledge of a university degree together with the freely accessible, open atmosphere of the Summer Academy. The teaching staff is changing from year to year but the continuity remains because of the academy's teaching concept.

The Concept of Creative Work:
The uniqueness of the Summer Academy in Venice is the concept of small, specialized classes with the possibility to combine them. Because of the small number of students per class (maximum 18 students per teacher) it is possible to focus on the special needs of each student and adjust the curriculum accordingly. It is also appropriate for beginners with no experience at all.
The development of individual capabilities and the joy of creating your own work is the main focus of this experience.
Students can start one work in one course and continue the same work in a different course during the following week to make use of an additional technique or knowledge they will acquire there. For example, one can start with painting and then continue with film studies to deepen and extend the work done in the first course. One can start with the course “Creative Writing” only to finish with the exhibition of paintings.
Working across all media is an essential boost for the development of new ways of expression and working techniques. It's the first time that this approach is applied in a summer academy.
