Swim lessons in San Diego for Kids & Adults
Aztec Aquaplex, San Diego:
The Aztec Aquaplex, located on the San Diego State University (SDSU) campus in northeastern San Diego, is a recreation center & aquaplex offering year-round public swim lessons to children and adults. The facility hosts three swimming pools: an Olympic-size (50 meter) pool, a Recreational pool and a Hydrotherapy spa. There are also two 3-meter and two 1-meter diving boards. Children under 18 years of age must pass a deep water swim test to use the diving boards.
Can non-students use the Aztec Aquaplex?
Yes, the pool is open to everyone.
Aztec Aquaplex Features:
50-meter Pool:
The 50-meter pool is 51 meters by 25 yards with a 1-meter movable bulkhead and (2) three-meter and (2) one-meter diving boards. Activities include lap swim, diving, and water polo. Water temperature is 79°-80°.
Hydrotherapy Spa:
The hydrotherapy spa is a cloverleaf-shaped hot tub that is large enough to hold 20 people. Water temperature is a soothing 101°-103°.
Recreational Pool:
The rec pool is a shallow pool with a beach style entry leading into a depth of five feet. It has steps, a seating area and several lanes for lap swimming. Activities include water fitness, lap swim, rec swim and floating lounge time. The water temperature is 83°-84°.
About our Swim Lessons:
Lessons will be very active and energetic. Participants will interact with other swimmers and instructors during their lessons and will be supervised for the entirety of their lesson. Lessons include aquatic skills and games while always putting safety first. All lessons are American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Certified.

The Aquaplex is located next to the Tony Gwynn baseball stadium adjacent to the tennis and softball facilities on the west side of the Campus. The facility is accessible from Remington Road "R" Lot.
