Aztec Aquaplex, San Diego:
The Aztec Aquaplex, located on the San Diego State University (SDSU) campus in northeastern San Diego, is a recreation center & aquaplex offering year-round public swim lessons to children and adults. The facility hosts three swimming pools: an Olympic-size (50 meter) pool, a Recreational pool and a Hydrotherapy spa. There are also two 3-meter and two 1-meter diving boards. Children under 18 years of age must pass a deep water swim test to use the diving boards.

Adult Beginner I Swim Lessons:
One hour, once a week for five weeks. These lessons are for adults with
little or no comfort in the water. Students will learn how to hold their
breath, float, get an introduction to the basic strokes and learn basic
water safety skills.

Adult Beginner II Swim Lessons:
One hour, once a week for five weeks. These lessons are for adults that have completed Adult Beginner I or have equivalent skills. Students in this class are comfortable in the water, but need stroke and stamina improvement. Students will continue stroke development in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke and improve their water fitness.

Adult Intermediate Swim Lessons:
One hour, once a week for five weeks. Students will receive stroke improvement instruction on the four swimming strokes; freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Our goals are comfort with each stroke as well as improved endurance.

Adult Advanced Swimming Workout:
You choose if you prefer one hour or up to one and a half hours. Workouts are three times per week. This is an organized swim workout for swimmers who are familiar with freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. There will be very little stroke improvement for these classes, so be sure you are ready for the challenges of swimming a full workout. If not, please consider our intermediate swim lesson.

Private Lessons for Adults or Youth:
These lessons are designed to meet specific needs for adults or youth. Private swim lessons consist of four 30-minute lessons of one-on-one instruction. Set the time to meet your schedule and the instructor will work to meet your swimming goals.


Youth Swim Lessons:

Parent / Tot (6 months to 3 years):
This lesson is intended for children 6 months through 3 years for age. This class is great for beginning lessons. The goal of this class is for young children to become comfortable in the water and to work in a group lesson environment for the first time, while parents learn the skills to help their child develop basic water skills. 5 days of 30-minute lessons.

Preschool (3-5 years):
This class is for children ages 3 through 5 years of age. Children will begin exploring the water by learning breath control, fully submerging their head, float on their front and back, begin forward momentum and begin elementary swim strokes.

Swimming Levels 1 - 6 Instruction:
- Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
- Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
- Level 3: Stroke Development
- Level 4: Stroke Improvement
- Level 5/6: Stroke Refinement

Beginning Diving Class (7-17 years):
One hour, once a week for five weeks.Must have completed Level 3 or passed the deepwater swimming test to participate.
