Courses run during the evenings and weekends so that students can earn a living or maintain family commitments. Students must be 18+ to apply to the Diploma and 16+ for the Foundation and all other adult courses. There is no upper age limit.

Staff:

The ACT team is comprised of highly experienced, passionate and dedicated actors and directors. They bring their own current professional practice into the classroom, relish the opportunity to nurture new talent and are committed to creating a safe, supportive and inspiring creative environment. ACT tutors work at the National Theatre, the Lyric, the Globe, the RSC and the BBC.

Courses:

Two Year Diploma in Acting; One Year Foundation in Acting; The Creative Playground; Acting Workshops; ACT Summer School; one-to-one Drama Coaching in Audition Technique; Acting Technique; Voice; Movement and Presentation Techniques. ACT also offers Kids Theatre.

How To Apply:

Our ethos is to provide access to professional Drama Training for talented individuals who have been unable to follow traditional routes into the acting profession. Entry onto The Workshop, Creative Playground, and Summer School, is by direct application. Entry onto Foundation in Acting, and Diploma in Acting, is by assessment.

In order to allow applicants the best possible opportunity to be assessed in a fair and fully rounded manner, we ask that students attend one of our monthly Two Week Intensive Workshops in Acting. For students for whom this is not possible, please see Overseas Students, Late Applicants and Exceptions.

Students can also assess directly and fully whether ACT is the right place for them. The tutors, class structure and timetable are all carefully designed to be a reflection of the style and content of our tuition and of the rigours and demands of our courses.

The Interview:

Photo of Drama School in Brighton, UK Upon completion of the Workshop, every tutor submits a written evaluation of each student's potential in their discipline. Students then attend an individual feedback session and interview with the Principal. This process allows us to determine a candidate's suitability for training and, in the case of successful applicants, which course is most appropriate for their existing skill level.

Following the interview, successful students will be sent a written offer. For Foundation students, this is usually an unconditional offer. We do recommend that all students aim to attend one week of our Summer School as a preparation for their course of study. For Diploma students, this will be a provisional offer and they will be invited to one of our audition dates.

The Audition:
We offer three audition dates each year. Applicants are sent a comprehensive set of guidelines and advice notes on selecting and presenting their pieces. The audition usually lasts around 20 minutes - applicants perform two contrasting pieces of around 2 minutes each and will have a brief interview with the panel.

We guarantee to swiftly inform applicants of the outcome of their audition.

The Bursary Scheme:

Applicants wishing to be considered for a bursary should advise the Administrator that they will be applying when they contact the office to confirm their attendance at audition. Completed application forms should be submitted to the office at least one week before the audition date.

Overseas Students, Late Applicants and Direct Applications:
For students who are unable to take apart in the 2 Week Intensive Workshop process, we offer an alternative application process. Applicants are invited to attend a day long assessment. A half-day Acting Workshop will be followed by individual auditions and interviews during the afternoon and evening. Applicants will need to prepare and present two strongly contrasting pieces. Applicants may also apply for the Bursary scheme as detailed above.

Prescott & Mackay School of Fashion and Accesory Design
Courses / Programs
Prescott & Mackay offers a unique range of short courses in fashion & accessory design from studios in London, San Francisco, Berkeley, New York and Melbourne. Courses run from beginner to advanced levels, and include shoemaking, bag making, belt making, corsetry, millinery and tutu making. Students can choose between group sessions, and private tuition.

All P&M tutors are among the best in their fields in the world, and many of them are world-renowned designers themselves. The concept for Prescott & Mackay was formulated in 1997 by British founder Melissa Needham, member of the British Footwear Association and Royal Society of the Arts. She recognised a rising passion for shoe and accessory design, yet a distinct lack of provision for those who were unable to attend full time study.

"I haven't had so much fun for ages. The teaching atmosphere was wonderful and I came away having made a pair of shoes I couldn't wait to show off. I couldn't believe I'd made them myself and nor could anyone else!"
