This program will ask participants to explore the potential to learn from the past, as well as from present technologies and practice, to design healthier cities for the future; and to retrofit today's urban spaces to cater to new challenges that may evolve.
. Designing for Architectural Brand

This course aims at introducing students to Brand Design Strategy, and Personal Construct Psychology Model (PCP Model) in the architectural design studio. Through interpreting the local societal inherent and brand images of the city of Venice, students will have the opportunity to explore the local environment and its heritage architecture. Students will be introduced to the PCP Model as a strategy to analyse and propose visual scenarios that integrate into the design process, the 'construct systems' of the inhabitants of Venice. Students will then engage in groups to explore and elicit their personal construct systems of the building's appearance using the Repertory Grid Technique (RGT).

The "Aldo Galli" Academy of Fine Arts is a private institution in Como, located less than an hour from Milan in the north of Italy. It is legally accredited by AFAM (Alta Formazione Artistica e Musicale), the Higher Education System for Art and Music, part of the university sector answering to MIUR, the Italian Ministry for Education, University and Research. "Aldo Galli" Academy is acknowledged as a high-profile art training institute offering courses in painting restoration on all sorts of material - canvas, tables, frescos, stuccos and stone - and enjoys an excellent reputation both on a national and international level. Students are taught the methodological approaches and skills required for the recovery and maintenance of the different kinds of works and are provided with ample opportunity to acquire substantial hands-on experience, be this in terms of field-work or in the labs, in the innumerable restoration activities commissioned to the Academy itself.

The International Summer Academy for Fine Arts and Media in Venice is a combination of academic studies and an open academy. The courses are offered for students of universities as well as for applicants without training in art.In this way, it combines advanced level with open accessibility. Courses take place parallel to the Venice Biennales, which also influence the program. The uniqueness of the summer academy in Venice is the concept of small, specialized classes with the possibility to combine them. All courses include a training module for beginners providing techniques and skills with most recent didactic methods.
The fact that the art studios, the accommodation and the meals are all located in the same building or nearby, contributes to a unique working environment at the Summer Academy.
Courses can be booked by weeks as well, but a far better profit is experienced when at least two or three weeks in continuity gives you the chance to apply and practice what you have learned. This is the best way to fully enjoy your art work. At the end of every week a curated show summarizes the work of all art-classes.
