The Laboratory for Energy Conversion (LEC) is part of the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zurich in Switzerland which is one of the world’s leading science and technology universities. We are a community of students, engineers, scientists, and other professionals, selected from around the globe who are engaged in advancing state-of-the-art in research in the area of energy conversion. From transportation to electricity production to energy consumption, our society is powered by the use of complex conversion devices. We are devoted to advancing the frontiers of science and engineering in order to improve the efficient use of natural resources, while minimizing environmental impact of these systems, as well as developing renewable energy sources.

LEC is a laboratory with staff, alumni and partners who come from five continents across the globe. The global composition of LEC’s team provides diverse backgrounds and experience that facilitate our broad outlook on the eventual application of our scientific and technological research.

Many active joint collaboration programs with leading industrial and academic institutions are maintained and fostered, allowing a broad view of the eventual application of our research. We are very active in many international conferences, allowing excellent networking opportunities for our students and staff.

World Peace Academy - Swiss Centre for Peace Studies, Basel

Based in the heart of Basel, Switzerland, on the French-Swiss border, The World Peace Academy runs a full-time postgraduate Master of Advanced Studies Programme in Peace and Conflict Transformation. Our institution is dedicated to peace both as a right and a duty. Those who participate in our educational programmes learn to recognize their duty to work for peace so as to promote the right to peace for all. We are a NGO affiliated with the University of Basel, which accredits our programme and issues our diplomas.

Students can begin the programme either in March, June or September each year. The MAS programme is accredited by the University of Basel, which issues the diploma.
