Morrison Institute of Technology:
Morrison Institute of Technology, located in Morrison (130 miles west of Chicago), Illinois, is an independent, co-educational, not-for-profit institution of higher learning offering a two year, Associate in Applied Science degree in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Construction, Drafting Design and CAD. Morrison Institute of Technology is authorized to operate and grant degrees in the state of Illinois under the applicable state statutes administered by the Illinois Board of Higher Education. At Morrison Institute of Technology we maintain small class sizes to provide students with more individualized instruction.
Morrison Institute of Technology offers the following accredited courses of study which lead to an Associate in Technology Degree:
- Highway & Building Construction Technology Program
Students who elect the construction concentration often do the following jobs after graduation: project inspection, materials inspection and testing, CAD operation, drafting, project design, preparation of project specifications, project supervision, technical sales, surveying, and project estimation. Usually these jobs are with construction or contracting firms, architectural and engineering firms, surveying firms, drafting and design shops, government agencies, pre-fabrication manufacturing firms, and similar.
- Design Drafting & Computer Aided Design Drafting Program
Students who elect the Drafting Design concentration often do the following jobs after graduation: CAD operation and supervision, design drafting, preparation of specifications, product or project design, technical sales, quality control, materials inspection and testing, and management. Usually these jobs are with manufacturing firms, engineering firms, government agencies, drafting and design shops, machine welding shops, foundries, product development firms, and similar industries.
- System & Networking Administration Program
System and Networking Administrators are predicted to be one of the fastest growing occupations in the 2002 - 2012 period according to U.S. Department of Labor predictions. Graduates will qualify for entry to mid level positions in network administration. The systems and network administrator usually works in a corporate or office environment. There are also system and network administration careers in manufacturing, education, government and the Intranet.
- GIS Certificate Program (Currently Offered as an Evening Program)
The GIS Certificate program is a compliment to a two year technology or related field degree, and will give the holder an upper edge for professional positions in the diverse fields utilizing the GIS technology. As the student completes this program, they will develop a working knowledge of industry standard GIS software and the skills necessary to work with diverse data sets and analyses requirements in this rapidly growing career field.
