Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours Courses:
Course Duration: 22 weeks if you have a prior qualification at Higher Diploma level. The pathway from Certificate level to Bachelor degree is 2.5 years.
The objective of these programmes is to equip students for the demands of senior management in the hospitality, tourism, and corporate event industries. Validated by Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), each 22-week programme is equivalent to the final year of university study. There are 4 intakes per year: January, March, July and October. Students, who successfully accomplish this programme, will receive two degrees - from IMI University Centre, Switzerland and from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.

All programmes share a common core of higher level management subjects with an emphasis on business development, including enterprise development, human resource management and corporate financial planning. Pathway specialisation is made through your choice of units: tourism and transport, tourism impacts, food and beverage facilities management, food costing, purchasing and merchandising and events operations. The programme also offers opportunities for learning a foreign language as well as higher management skills, for example negotiation and data analysis.
* Requirements for Admission:
- IMI Higher Diploma in Hotel and / or Tourism Management or equivalent.
- Transfers are considered from recognized Hotel/Tourism Management schools or universities.
- Proficiency in English: 525 TOEFL (paper-based), 71 TOEFL (internet-based), 5.5 IELTS, or equivalent
- Applicants who do not have the required English level may join the 4-week Intensive English Certificate (IEC) or the 12-week University English Preparatory Course (UEPC).
IMI Luzern MBA Degree Program:
Course Duration: 22-week intensive, residential semester, followed by a 22-week professional practice (internship) in Switzerland or abroad, followed by a non-residential 22-week semester for your field consulting project or dissertation.
In addition to the ten core modules in this hospitality-based MBA program, you can choose to specialise in Social Media Marketing, Sustainable Hotel and Tourism Management, Luxury Brands and Services Management or Swiss Hotel Management Operations. Students who cannot commit to the three semesters have the option of completing the Postgraduate Certificate Programme (80 credits) and the Postgraduate Diploma Programme (140 credits).
MBA in International Hospitality Management:
Course Duration: 22-week intensive, residential course followed by a 22-week non-residential programme for the field consulting project or dissertation.
Taught entirely in English, this MBA program is validated by IMI's UK partner, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). Students, who successfully complete this programme, will receive two degrees - from IMI and from MMU. There are 4 intakes per year: January, March, July and October.
The IMI MBA is designed for students with qualifications and/or experience in hospitality management who wish to develop their skills and understanding of the industry in preparation for middle and senior management positions. The core focus is on strategic management, with subjects including enterprise development, strategic international marketing management, project appraisal and feasibility studies, business cultures in developing new markets.
Postgraduate Diploma in International Hotel and Events Management:
Course Duration: 22 weeks
The objective of this intensive course is to equip students who have limited or no experience of the hospitality industry with the practical and management skills necessary for entry level positions in hotel, events and related industries. There are 4 intakes per year: January, March, July and October.
Core subjects include: Financial Management, Human Resource Management; Food and Beverage Services; Personal Development Planning.

Equivalent to the third year of university, these courses are designed for students with an interest in rapidly achieving junior management positions and who already have relevant qualifications and / or experience. They allow a measure of single or combined specialization in either international hotel management, tourism management or events management. Students who successfully complete this programme, will receive two awards - a Higher Diploma from IMI University Centre, Switzerland and a Diploma of Higher Education from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.
IMI Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management:
Course Duration: 22 weeks
The objective of this course is to develop students' professional understanding of how tourism and hospitality organizations integrate business functions and focuses on specific departmental responsibilities (front office and food production) as well as cross-functional management skills (financial management, accounting, marketing and sales, and the uses of e-commerce). The programme also offers opportunities for the learning of foreign languages (French or German) and core intermediate management skills.
This course is designed for students who already have qualifications in and / or experience of the fundamental operational aspects of hospitality and tourism management and seek to develop these skills to supervisory management level. Students, who successfully accomplish this programme, will receive two awards - from IMI University Centre, Switzerland and from our British academic partner, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.
Certificate in International Hotel and Tourism Management (5 months):
Course Duration: 22 weeks
The objective of the course is to give students a sound professional education in the operational management of tourism and hospitality organizations, with a particular focus on food and beverage operations, global hospitality and tourism trends and accommodation systems. The programme also includes opportunities to acquire fundamental skills in languages, information technology, communication, business planning and self-development.
English Language Preparatory Courses For International Students:
These intensive courses are designed to improve your English to a level sufficient to take a hospitality course at IMI. These are only available for students who have signed up for one of our courses.
- University English Preparatory Programme (UEPP) - Improve your English level to the required entry standard before commencing your IMI programme. Offered at four levels.
- Pre-Sessional English Course (PSEC) - If you already meet the required standard of English for your chosen course, but would like to refresh your language skills, students on the PSEC courses can join the last four weeks of an equivalent UEPP course. Offered at three levels.
Additional Language Courses:
All courses are taught through English. However, students may additionally sign up for a 3rd language (French, German or Spanish).
