Encore Music Projects International Summer School:
Our residential summer music school for children and young adults is held at Wells Cathedral School in Somerset in South West England. Designed for intermediate and advanced students, the 2-week music course is for piano, strings, composition, voice, and chamber ensembles.

- Beautiful Setting
Founded in 2013 by pianist Olena Shvetsova and her cellist husband Richard May, our summer school takes place in the historic Wells Cathedral Specialist Music School. Wells is internationally renowned for attracting gifted young musicians from around the world to study there.

We provide a safe and stimulating environment where students can develop their musical talents while making new friendships. Our students enjoy the relaxing gardens and lawns, with playgrounds and outdoor resting areas. The school is just a 2-minute walk from cafes and shops. 

- High Quality Tuition
You will receive expert tuition from our team of world class musicians. We aim to inspire our students with lessons and guidance of the highest calibre, in a supportive and friendly atmosphere. You will have the opportunity to listen to and perform with our team of world-class performers and teachers.

- Excellent Facilities
We offer outstanding facilities on our course in an environment specifically designed for music students, including purpose-built music practice rooms. All student performances are digitally recorded and available after the course.

Pianists will study and practise on one of our many fine pianos. All of our teaching/practise rooms have high-quality grand and upright pianos, including Steinways, Yamahas.

For those parents who may be considering sending their children to Wells Cathedral School for their education, the course offers a unique chance to experience the atmosphere of the school. We can organise personal organised tours of the school.

- 2-week residential music school for children and young adults. We provide our students with outstanding facilities for making music as well as enjoying comfortable living accommodation and high-quality food.

Study violin, viola, cello, piano, voice, composition, chamber ensembles, string orchestra, choirs, theory. We also offer English language classes for overseas students.

"As a student and assistant of the course, the most impressive things that I experienced were the enthusiasm and friendship created between the students. These gave us a feeling of security and freedom that allowed us to express our desire to share opinions and ideas amongst ourselves.

I think this was really helpful because we had the opportunity to discuss any musical matters with our peers, without any kind of embarrassment, helping each other about any problem and getting even more motivated, inspired and knowledgeable about music.

The teachers’ dedication, enthusiasm, encouragement and desire to experience their students’ progress were superior. We all loved our individual and ensemble coaching and the final result in the concert was stunning. Also, the teachers performed a huge amount of concerts throughout the course, which I think is a crucial part of any music course. The students had the opportunity to fully understand their teachers’ comments and suggestions by watching them perform.

"My observation has been that the teaching at the individual level was excellent. Your teachers although professionals at a high level were nurturing and kind. They displayed tremendous patience and skill in handling their students and gave no hesitation in imparting technique.

The idea behind the teachers concerts, communal choir, eating together in the dining hall and the Cheddar Gorge day out created for a whereby the students, teachers and parents could all socialise at a the same level fostering relationships in a relaxed and fun atmosphere and simultaneously providing the students with inspiration and support. This worked very well!

Olena, you were wonderful from the initial contact via email in terms of suggestions on how to structure my daughter’s program, to the warm reception on arrival and the kindness, patience and thoughtfulness provided throughout the camp.
