Conveniently located on O’Connell Street in Dublin city centre, The English Academy is a Cambridge ESOL teacher training centre running the internationally recognised CELTA course for both Irish and international students. We also offer year-round English language courses at all levels, as well as Cambridge and IELTS English exam preparation courses. We are an official Cambridge ESOL examination centre. - It is a full time intensive course (typically four to five weeks), and comprises 120+ hours.

CELTA is accepted throughout the world by organisations which employ English Language teachers. The Cambridge CELTA has been accredited by Ofqual (the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) at Level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework for England. Cambridge ESOL also works with international ELT organisations to ensure the acceptance of CELTA globally.
Popular destinations looking for the CELTA from Irish teachers seeking work abroad include for example Australia, Canada and China. In Ireland, the CELTA is recognised by The Irish Department of Education and Skills, by the NQAI and by ACELS. To teach English (ESOL) in Ireland in an approved school, you must have a primary degree in addition to a TEFL Certificate.
